I had a good time.

Here are some of the guys I was with, putting on a formation flying clinic.

The bombers did a nice job staying together (even though we should have worked out command arrangements beforehand) and kept the Belle alive.  And the Luftwaffe flew great, despite being outnumbered and facing the turbolasers of doom.

I took some pings but was not damaged, made my drop on the target and landed.  My gunner AKFF1 knocked down 3 Jerries!  WTG AKFF1!!!

Thanks for letting me gun Funked

I got in late (family stuff) and your invite was very appreciated. I will have fond memories of the whole flight.

First the massive force of Forts, flying off to the target. Then the gut tightening sight of a sky full of Messerschimdts boring down on us. The ack pounding in all directions, and bogeys all over!

Right out of 12 O'clock high.

The reason we didn't get many hits wasn't my gunnery

Only one 109 attacked us (the first one) the other two I shot as they were attacking our wingies. I also got an assist, knocking a Jerry offa Dowling and a few hit sprites on a couple others. The shooting was easy, I was just "flock" shootin

Ya know how every now n then everything goes your way?

And the final, and a big highlight for me was that perfect soft as a feather landing you did. I watched it from the 1 key and the F3.

One word for that landing... Saaa Weet! I'm lucky if I can walk away from a b17 after I land it! LOL!

Do ya give flying lessons?

Sure any time.

I thought the victory roll was better than the landing though.

I had a very good time.  Thanks udie and anyone else who worked on it.

Here's a funny story.  It was "on your honor" friendly-only tags.  We're on our run, dots are closing from afar, at least the first, lower group of bombers got to drop before any engagement, suddenly from the tail gunner position I see B17s around me shooting into thin air and I'm thinking to myself "These guys are nuts, they should be saving ammo" and suddenly "ping ping ping" I'm getting hit and then I realize "Friendly-only tags".....these guys are not shooting into thin air, they are shooting at those two enemy bees buzzing through our formation!  That was really really neat, trying to track the little dots and judge distance...actually, just trying to acquire the dots before they got into shooting range was fun enough.

I have not seen Nath's film yet, if there is a B17 with the right engine dead and smoking black, and three fuel leaks, that would be me.

Lots of fun.

Yeah Fury ended up with a few holes in him.

I moved over near him to give him some cover with my AKFF1 Kill-bot.  Nath said on ch1 that it looked liked two B-17's were mating.

I just watched the film.  What an awesome job Nath, the waiting for the right time and the flying/gunning.  A great film to watch.

And thanks to Funked, for keeping tight.

Those guys in the picture above are pure gold-dust. Somehow I ended up in the lead of the forward, low group - everybody slid into formation like they were on rails. <S> to ya all. I`m only sorry that I got an assist on Dowding in the 2 position, seeing as he`s a squad mate of mine

Also a huge WTG to Udie who got a little stressed at the start of the mission but sorted it all out for the rest of us. Thanks Udie! <S>
