Joystick won't stay calibrated
« on: April 23, 2008, 05:44:45 PM »
I have an X 52 pro hotas and rudder pedals and they work great but I have to re-calibrate them in A H  everytime I log on to the game.   I never have this problem in IL 2 , FSX or WB so Im sure it's something in AH.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this.
It's kinda bad to head down the runway and start swerving to your death before ya even get started
I'm a noob in AH  so I'll probably be on here beggin for help from time to time   :uhoh

many thanks

In your "settings" folder in the Aces High folder, find your "joystick.jsm" file. Right click on it and select properties. At the bottom of that window make sure the "read only" box is NOT checked. In the game, after calibrating, make sure you click "save" too.

That happens every time I play. I can be in the same plane all night and every time I up I have to recalibrate.

I have CH Fighter Stick, CH Pro Throttle, & CH Peddles.  I checked to see if the "read only box" was checked and it wasn't.

Ok ,I checked and "read only"  is not checked.
When I calibrate in AH  I don't see a " save " choice  , all I see is " OK "
so I click that and thats it , the stick and all the scaling settings are perfect.
However as soon as I quit the game and then log back in later the calibration has to be done again , it reverts to the default calibration.  All the buttons are fine and the stick and rudders work , but without the scaling settings I use in AH it's WAY too sensitive.  In A H  I don't use any Saitek profile , all the config is done in A H.  It's
not a terrible issue but it is annoying if I forget to calibrate before I take off. The X 52 pro keeps it's calibration in windows very well and I can shut down my computer for a couple days and then log on to FSX , Il 2 1946 ,   BoB2 or WB and the stick never needs to be recalibrated , so I know it's an  A H issue.    A H is an awesome sim and I'm determined to get this resolved. Your help and suggestions are greatly appreciated .

Is the stick calibrated in Windows?

As an experiment, try renaming the 'settings' folder, then go into the game, calibrate the stick, then map it and see if it sticks when you exit and go back.

If you are running Norton or some other secutiry program, I have seen these mess with many files in Aces High II.

How old is the stick?  They do wear out & get loose over time.

The stick is 5 weeks old and works perfectly in all my other sim's and A H too if I recalibrate before I take off.
I will try the rename settings folder thing and see if that helps.

Thanks

Skuzz,

[ I know the above post was directed toward sg1221 ]

My stick is not calibrated in windows, my AVG virus scan it shut down when playing.

Rename my settings folder or rename the stick folder?

My major problem is when I go to auto pilot and auto pilot turns off w/o my command.  If I recalibrate it fixes it; But I am constantly having to recalibrate.

I have a powered USB hub and my stick never needs to be recalibrated in Flightsim X , IL 2 1946 , Warbirds , or BoB2 wings of victory  , only in A H do I have to recal everytime I log off the game come back.   I guess I'll try the rename the folder thing and then redo all my settings and scales and see if that works  :cry

I am just suggesting you try it.  I would not put a lot of time into redoing everything until you just give it a go.

By the way, are either of you running Vista?

Increase the "dead zone" when you recal in Winblows.  I had the same problem..

That is what it soulds like RATFINK needs to do as well.  If auto-pilot is kicking off, then find the offending axis and up the deadband a little.
