My dog is not feeling so good

I think my dog is dying...reallu sucks

He has a bad habit of eating rocks...they have all passed thru or he puked them up. Last week he had 3 that were in his belly an dintestine fro 3 days. On the end of the third day becuase he was not eating we took him to vet. X rays showed the rocks...He was given an iv of fluid..and a mouth full of mineral oil type stuff...

Well rocks passed !! YA...But since then a week now..his appetite has been almost nothing. He takes 10 pill sa day becasue of a heart vavle problem. He has been on pills for about a year..and has been acting great..with outthe pills his lungs fill up with fluid


Vet did blood test on him yesterday..looks fine....He is not looking good though..doesnt move much and almost no eating. Im making a peanut butter pill ball and sticking in back of his throat..he swallos it. He is drinking a water..and he did eat some ground turkey burger last night...pretty much east a handful of food a day. Lost 4lbs thsi week

Hes a weimerwaner  11 years old  name Zeke

any of you have ideas on eating?

Aww that is sad I love those dogs.. So pretty and so soft. Maybe his teeth hurt him from eating the rocks....you could try to soak his dog food in warm water( take the food and put it in a bowl and fill it up with water just a little bit above the food, wait about 45 min and then smash it with a fork) and try that. Also they make this gravy stuff for dogs you can put it on their food and he might eat it that way. If the vet said he is okay then I wouldnt be too worried about it.. If he gets hungry he will eat but if you are worried still i would take him back to the vet and tell him he isnt eating.. Good luck.. Ill try and look up something for you for more advice.. sorry i couldnt help that well...good luck though

He may need another X-Ray to see if one isn't lodged part-way through his intestinal tract.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. Like others, I'd say get a followup with your veterinarian. If he or she is not sure of the problem, you might want to get a referral or a second opinion.

If he's on a sodium-restricted diet because of his heart, be a little careful about salty stuff like peanut butter. You want him to eat, but you don't want to make any underlying problem worse.

he has gotten plenty of "soft food" gravy options.

The salt thing....not sure what to do , will look at other options to "hide" the pills

He had follwo up xrays ..hes clear....and i sifted through his poo...found the three rocks, wasnt hard to find as his stool has been soft serve; (

Sorry to hear about your pup, the hardest thing I have ever had to do, was put my dog down, I wish that on nobody, so I hope he pulls through.

 On the lighter side, feed him some McDonalds, that should "free" him up.

If his system were messed up by the rocks that finally passed, it may take some time to get back to normal.  Just a guess of course. Hope your friend gets better.

he had blood tests doen 2 days ago..looked fine.

Maybe he got hurt in the process?
If the blood is good, and no fever, he should get back on the tracks, as long as he eats and drinks. Does he poop okay and no blood in it? One trick is a little oil, - human feed oil for cooking. Have him drink like a couple of ounces, and make sure he is outside afterwards!
For sneaking medicine in, well, he ate rocks! But seriously, butter, pate or a slice of burger....a rock-eating dog is most presumably quite a gobbler.
11 years for his breed, isn't that rather old BTW?

BGB hope everything works out well for you, i dont know what i would do if i lost my  Daschund..He's my best friend, loyal and true thats for sure.

He has the personality of a human, and when im down he always cheers me up, His names Buddy, which is short for Budwig Von Bratwurst. Anyway, me and Buddy will be rooting for a fast recovery

Yes Zeke is getting to the old age, but took scuh a quick downturn..

Yes we experienced the oily butt..that sucked ...Im leaving my office now to buy him a couple cheeseburgers

He usually is a gobbler ..thats whats so depressing about him not eating anything...2 weeks ago he ate my sour dough rolls off the counter when i turned around......now he wont even sniff them
