Goto Google and type in "French military victories", then hit "I'm feeling lucky".
Here lie these men on this sun scoured atoll,
The wind for their watcher, the wave for their shroud,
Where palm and pandanus shall whisper forever,
A requiem fitting for heroes

That still isn't that long.  A really long time ago is like 150 years, to me.  Around 1/10 of Hajo's age.

I guess that makes me an old guy then. I spent my 19th birthday stuck in a basement/bunker at Kobar Towers having SCUD missles shot at us. 5 days later we were at an ammo supply dump at KKMC getting our initial loadout of MLRS rockets and had a couple more SCUDs shot at us. Nothing like being in the middle of thousands of tons of high explosive artillery shells, rockets, propelant, and ammo and hearing the air raid siren go off :O

Well, that's ... the blitz.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
