Thursday's TOD mission...be there.
« on: August 29, 2000, 10:55:00 PM »
Hi, all. Last Thursday's TOD mission (B-17 escort/intercept) was a great success...the Buffs actually made it to target, and most made it home. We're planning an air-ground battle for the TOD guys this Thursday, and I've posted a request for volunteers to drive the armored assault column...the more the merrier.

Here's the premise: The Whermach is making a local counterattack against a Red Army supply depot (vehicle base) in order to spoil a planned Soviet offensive. The Germans are supporting the attack with fighter cover. For
their part, the Russians are mainly equiped with local defense fighters with virtually no air-to-ground capability.  Fortunately, a recent British Lend-Lease shipment included a hand-full of Typhoon fighters. They are all that stands between the Germans and the supply depot, so they're sent into the fray even before the Red Air Force can even repaint them in Soviet colors.

The armored column will consist of tanks, flakpanzers, and troop-tracks. Their chore will be to go from a spawn point to the supply depot and attempt to capture it. The Russians will attempt to stop them, while the Luftwaffe will attempt to protect them.

Thanks for everyone's participation so far.  Everyone's been very patient, and attitudes have been on a whole very professional. By the way, if anyone wants to volunteers for the German and Russian flights, just post here.  You'll need to be there about 2140 EST, just to start catching pilots as they enter the SEA.  Thanks.

Sounds good Sabre, cya there!

As always, I'm available if you need a CO or flight leader for the Axis.

After missing the last three TOD (stupid RL) I can't wait to get back into it.

One question, if I was on Axis for the first TOD does that mean I am Axis the rest of the TOD or does it depend on where I am needed?

Thanks

To clarify a question, you are not required to stay Axis or Allied from mission to mission.  I felt such a restriction would turn more people away than an open policy. So far, I've only had to ask one or two people in a mission to switch sides.  Numbers have been petty balanced so far.  Plenty of volunteers available to drive vehciles, btw.

Sorry Sabre, for not showing up. I slept through the alarm.    It's not that easy to wake up at 5am...

It seems the LW was succesful anyway - Good!
