It used to be that if a guy came upon a fight, he'd circle just outside of it and wait his turn. Guarding the fight, no matter the outcome of his countrymate below.  Whether it was in the middle of the pond, or right off of his field. Even AFK guys would get a break. Saddle up on their six and wait until he comes back to shoot him as he panics and rolls around.

I got a good solution to the ppl getting ganged GET A WINGMAN!!!!! it works great. Yes you will still get ganged but you would be surprised what you could do with a wingman.

Just accept the fact that different people find the fun and excitement in different aspects of the game. Try to have fun on your own terms without trying to force others to change their style. It is pretty obvious you find BnZ lame if you choose to fly EW planes. They usually out turn late war rides. It is only natural to fly each plane according to their streghts. Would you really try to  turnfight a Zeke in a Typhoon yourself????

You keep putting it like "1:1" means "one player vs one player", as opposed to more or less even odds, whatever the numbers.

Wingmen can be an asset or detrimental depending upon whether they have any skill. I flew with a squad that had some good sticks, some average sticks and some who were and will forever be, helpless. I spent far too much time clearing sixes of the clueless, till I decided not to bother anymore. We had one guy with a 0.07/1 K/D over several tours. Nice guy, but didn't grasp the basic concepts needed to be even slightly successful. He would dive into every horde and be dead in 30 seconds. He was the only player I ever saw who would dive in to strafe a hanger and miss. If I had to pick a winner in a duel between him and Stevie Wonder, I'd put my money on Stevie.

By the way, a wingman is no guarantee that you not will be ganged by a mob. Circumstances must be understood as well.

All of that said, I generally fly alone. I'm usually outnumbered and sometimes get ganged. That's the price I pay when I head to the nearest base being assailed by a horde (aircraft, GVs or both).

Why's everyone so desperate for one on ones?

They're often the only fair fights you can get.  It directly shows your skill as a pilot, and your enemy's skill with no other variables besides the conditions you're flying in.

You could just as well try claiming that your fun is being able to fly C-47 to enemy HQ and back. No-one should engage you because that would be ruining your fun, right? There are limits what you can dream of and where.

However, you could do the C-47 flight offline. Just the same you CAN have your 1-on-1:s at DA. You just make it happen!

If you go to MA, there are limits to what you can do. There you have to adjust or create the opportunities for your own fun, but never expect others to do what you would do yourself.

Yes I know that I was being a smart ass. It just wasn't always this bad, it seems to keep getting worse and worse as time goes on. Why should we have to keep adjusting to worse and worse game play, rather than try to do something about it?

It just takes some of the bigger squads to start being vocal to their own squaddies about leaving fights alone or at the very least making sure to ask the green guy if he wants help before diving in trying to steal the kill he's worked for.

I don't think anyone expects a 1 on 1 in the middle of a furball but then again do we really need 4 or 5 guys chasing one con? It's pretty freaking retarded and shows the skill-set of the average AHer these days. I will say sometimes it can be fun and it's quite challenging to fight out numbered but what goes on in the MA pretty much limits the fights and doesn't really teach new players how to fight for themselves.

In the MA these days it's degraded to hoard vs hoard with not much of anything else.

The server "sees" nothing.  All that matters is what you see on your front end...period.

I agree.  His terminology or understanding was wrong.  Since you know so match though, please explain to me how I can empty my ammo load on someone from D200 and not even get him to smoke, period?
