In remembrance of my grandfather SSGT. Stanley Lincoln who marched with the 3rd Army as a BAR gunner and came to the rescue of the brave soldiers trapped by the Germans at Bastogne. He related to me how they moved so fast that he had to march on with an empty gun. Nobody was stopping to wait for the ammunition to catch up. At one point, he captured a dozen german soldiers with an empty BAR. When he saw the germans crouched down behind a stone wall, he leveled the BAR and pulled the trigger. The germans thought the CLICK they heard was the safety being thrown off the BAR.. and they dropped their weapons and surrendered. My grandfather is gone now. But i'm honored he passed on his experience to me. Greatful also to print these few words on this day in memorial to his service and bravery.
