Bishop 38's Vs. Pig's P-39Q's Great Fight!
« on: June 04, 2008, 10:08:01 AM »
To the Bishop 38 raid last night that ran into a Pig's fighter sweep in P-39Q's.  There was about 20 of us on each side, and it was a chance meeting with quite a unique aircraft matchup(38's vs. 39's).  No way to plan this sort of fight, and I enjoyed every nail-biting second.  Thank you for the fight gentleman! :salute

ok who won?

my only experience against the 39's has been in zekes, or hellkittys, abot a month or so ago...before this most recent update. they were at that point easy kills in what i was flyng. i think i may have been able to kill em in the 38 too, but not sure.

but to answer who won? ALL of those guys won!! they all got to have great fights!

A gentleman pilot never brags. They had alt on our formation heading to our airfield.  We dropped our DT's, and turned underneath them following and climbing waiting for them to drop down with their ords.  All the P-38's were heavy and did exactly would I would have done being heavy with an alt advantage.  They ignored our formation underneath them and continued to target, dropped ord on targets then began dogfighting the 39's.  Maybe two of the 38's jettisoned ord to make passes through our formation to try to discourage us from following the heavies.  In the ensuing dogfight several P-39's were shot down(myself included), and I believe all except maybe one or two of the P-38's were shot down. Again it was a fun fight, win or lose.  Kudos to you twin engine guys! :aok

It definitely wasn't the 80th Headhunters then, we are strictly 'War Losers' and never carry ord in our P38s.
