I've seen pictures in the screen shot thread where someone killed two people with the bombs on the 234 in air. Not sure if they're still there.

The coolest thing, in my opinion, is that this was a tactic used in real life :aok
Think that was B@tfink

Yeah it was a tactic, 109s and 190s had time delay fused bombs, fighters would dive 500 feet above bombers and drop them into a formation, breaking them apart. It really didn't work out as planned, many were intercepted before the attack began since they were "heavy"

That's not how Knoke (the co-inventor of the method) described it, from what he wrote it seemed more like his staffel dropped the bomb into the tight formation and hoped they hit one. They actually used it to a fair amount of success (this was in the first half of '43 however, before allied escorts showed up in large numbers over France/Holland/Germany).However, the RLM caught wind of the method and had JG27 (I think) try it, and the method the RLM engineered may be what your describing. They were far less successful.

At one point the F4U was being designed to do just that.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I've wondered alot about getting blown up like that Adonai, but so far It's never happened to me. There's been several times I thought I should've been hit but wasn't.
Lighten up Francis

Im curious, i made this as a joke tonight bout getting killed by a drop tank, is it possible?

Here's scenario - I caught a Jug-d11 model auto climb, rolled behind him, good burst into his wing - he for some odd reason drops his tank, which i flew under him and tried to avoid the tank.

Im curious can it happen? i.e lose a wing or tail to a DT?

No.. You can teabag semi-vulches with DTs to mark your territory, though.

F4U was originally designed to carry tiny bombs inside each of its wings to drop on enemy bombers.  It was designed to carry either 30 tiny bombs, or maybe they were 30lb bombs.  I forget which.  This was back in the 1930s.

* Gustav gunboats were one of the mainstays of the Luftwaffe's defense of the Reich against Allied bombers, and many techniques were used to knock down the attackers. Gustavs were even used to drop fragmentation bombs with time-delay fuze's to break up the formations, but this approach was not very successful.

An article about the me109g6 carrying time-delay fuze bombs, was asking krusty1 about this earlier and wasn't able to dig up any research on this, I know it worked, apparently 109s would drop these bombs 500 feet above a buff formation and it will explode, destroying 1-2 buffs in formation. I'm guessing approach was not successful based on fact the 109s were sitting ducks for escorts, but what about where buffs didn't have escorts? I think a 250kg bomb with time fuze delay would cause serious havoc on bombers in Aces High.

I dropped a stick of 100 lb bombs from a TBM while flying over a La and blew him up. I just wish I had been recording.

I used to have a video of a spit attacking a lanc from below and the lanc pilot was so scared he dropped his 4000 lb bomb and blew the spit to pieces. the funniest part though was that the bombs explosion killed the lanc too.
