strats questions
« on: June 08, 2008, 10:34:15 AM »

2 questions on items from the original setup list on scoring

"2. Strategic objects broken down on each side and given a % value.
a. Commanders are then informed of their own value and the value of their opponents objects.
b. Each side is recommended to plan their strategy and give it to the squadrons to deploy their own tactics."

Question, Have the values of the different stats been decided and given out yet?

"3. At the end of every week (Thursday), a tally of strategic % is done."

Question, Since I am assuming the strats will always being rebuilding themselves, will this be a cummalative total or just whats down when the staff look at it on Thursday?

It's tallied every Thursday - however, the downtimes for strategic objects is inherently different from field objects. Thursday is also a time milestone for CO's to reach their objective.

4. The following arena settings are set:
* Object hardness for strategic objects are set to downtimes of 3 days (4320 minutes) with a hardness of a 500lb bomb each (0.500).
* Downtimes for ALL objects are AvA norms - 60 minutes (yep- 60 minutes is the norm).

We've put up the map we're using so CO's can get a tally of what strategic Zones a) they own, and b) what their opponent has.    That rule is more geared for maps that don't have zones or many strategic resources so we have the flexibility to assign them.

Good information :aok

Still, 2 more questions.

What time is the cut off for the round, is it 22 hrs or 24 hrs Thursday?

Is the tally from objects that are down at that time?  Or is there a way that total damage could be tallied?

Yea, i am a bit lost too Flatiron.  I understand with the victory goes to the side who infliked the most damage.  But is that tally the whole week or what is down at the end of the week?

Since downtime for strategic objects is 3 days, does that mean that it's futile to destroy them Friday through Sunday since they'll pop before Thursday and the tally?

I sure would like to see an answer to this and the question of allied air spawns as well as the allied Vh spawn into an Axis strats.
Used to fly as Halo46, GRHalo, Hobo and Punk at the end.

It's starting to sound overly complicated.  Why not make the first week a full prototype run with all of the rules and purchasing?  Each side should play to win but also play to learn for the real multi-week war.  Start the real war after the prototype week with changes based on the lessons learned from the prototype week.  Reset everything so it's a fresh start.  I'm sure there will be many issues found during the first week. Anything to get it going sooner.

a4944 - understand your concerns.  We're open and flexible to make this work for all players.  The purchse list is to create a resource-based gameplay style where Commanders can pre-purchase their equipment and ready for war.  Strategic targets give the purchased equipment targets and the ability to defend resources - which is what war is really about.

The BoA mission is to provide a realistic gamplay environment that simulates WWII combat.  Play a round - attack each others resources, defend your own, and then at the end of the week, you lick your wounds and prepare for the next round.  The $$ for the next round to purchase your equipment is dependant on how well you re-supplied/defended your own resources.  Kind of like the board game 'Axis and Allies'. :)

We WILL make changes to the BoA based on how well it works - and we will poll you guys after the first BoA to make changes for the next one.  :salute

That depends doesn't it? It's far easier to keep a strat object knocked down by daily bombing than waiting for desperate attacks at the end of the round.  Strat's will be counted on the Thursday at 11:59pm. Commanders have until the next day to get their lists in so we can reset everything and start round 2.

Does this answer everyones question?

Thanx Fork, that last post did help. you are right it is easier to keep them down than to frantically try to drop them.

It is? I'm confused. If you bomb something on Sunday, it'll pop back up on Wednesday and not get counted on Thursday unless you bomb it AGAIN. It actually hurts if you bomb on Sunday, since you won't be able to make a "scoring" bomb run on the target until Wednesday.

Wedge, you send continues attacks periodically throughout the week. This way the strat is always at 0 and it keeps pressure on your enemy.
