KI-100
« on: June 10, 2008, 03:59:51 AM »
It would be so awesome to have the KI-100 Goshikisen in this game! A plane greatly feared by B-29 pilots!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ki-100

Theres so many other planes and GVs that I want in this game but this will do for now :)

I believe it was a bigger threat to Allied fighters. I tried already in a previous thread. Got nowhere.

1) Although far rarer than the Ki-44, I believe you IJAAF fans would be quite impressed with the Ki-100 (only 384 built). Although the validity of combat accounts is questionable (a matter of "we said/they said"), the plane was highly regarded by Japanese pilots. Supposedly it could dive with pony's and not worry about shedding parts or energy. It was also described as having superior maneuverability to the F6F.

2) As for the Ki-45, Absolutely :aok

I just wish we had need for the recon models of the Ki-46 Dinah in AH. IMO the prettiest plane the Japanese ever built.

Actually the Ki-44 and J2M3 were much more of a threat to the B-29 than was the Ki-100.  The only virtue the Ki-100 had over other Japanese aircraft was that it was reliable when most were very unreliable.  In AH it would be very much like the Ki-61.

I agree the Ki-44 and J2M3 were  more of a threat. The Ki-45 actually achieved more success than any other japanese fighter against bombers, MSgt Fujitano Ito had 13 victories against bombers. I really would like to see this plane in the game.

Yep the Kikka was very simular to the ME-262 but was smaller and had 4 20mm cannons instead of 4 30mm cannons.

The Karyu was based more on the ME-262 but it never entered production.
And yep the Kikka's produced were only prototypes so no combat record, thus making it impossible for the game... *sigh*

If you want to fly a kikka jet, load the Japan terrain and go offline and select the default skin for the 262

Japan could barely field the metals required for decent engines and even basics necessities like landing gear by 1944. QA was in the crapper.

Regardless of a single prototype (or even a couple) there is no way they had anywhere near the high-quality metals required to produce turbine engines in any quantity with any reliability.

That's not even getting into the fuel situation.

Somewhat like the Tiger & Panther D purchased by the Japanese. With no way to transport the two vehicles back to Japan, and no way to reproduce them if they ever got them there. What was the point??
