« on: June 10, 2008, 02:45:40 PM »
I am trying to pit together a Ground attack squad for the  axis side. we  need a bout 4 or 5 guys sqd nights will be Monday or Tuesday night. I love blowing stuff up on the ground! plus I'm not so great in fighters. So if you like to fly as a team and blow stuff up send me a PM or an e-mail  at gruppewojo at yahoo dot com. :salute

Wojo,
Suggest you go start you a recruiting thread in the SQUADRONS forum.

I am sure there are some like minded pilots out there that are into blowing things up and leather underwear.   :D

Just got to find them. Good luck on the squad. Always need more in the AVA.

:salute

Nice idea.  Will this squad train in the 190F-8, JU-87 and JU-88?  The axis side needs more pilots who can bomb effectively.

Word of advice:

You will attract more pilots by doing Fighter/Bomber stuff with the 109, 190 & 110.

Flying the Stuka & JU-88 take a more "specialized" and dedicated pilot - I know from where I speak as I used to C.O. a Bomber squad flying the B-26.

You might want to think of changing from StG.1 to something like SKG-10 "Wespe" (used 109 & 110's) or one of the SG Geschwaders. PM me if you need help picking something out. I have lots of info on the LW. Be glad to help another AVA squad get started.

SG2 IIRC flew 190A's, D's, and F's.

I understand what you are saying about the fighter/bomber thing ,however I'm just looking for some follow bomber pilots not a bunch of bodies. :D
I picked SG.2 because  Hans -Ulrich Rudel flew with them. Just doing  a brief check I saw that they flew mostly Stuka's,I gruppe had 109 Es and F ,II gruppe had 190's and III gruppe had stukas(g models) till the end of the war. Ju88's were designed dive bombing in mind also so we will use those also when needed. I think the Axis have a ton of really good fighter guys ,I think we could use some more buff guys. I also thinkits easier to bring new people along in bombers. :salute

Ground attack is 190's and JU-88's?   I thought that was more the venue of the 110 and JU-87's as in busting dirt targets.

Now if it's a pure Axis bomber squadron, that'd be another thing entirely.

Just my unwanted $0.02 on the topic

Hiya Odee. <S>.

All the Fw190 variants carried at least 500 kilo for the Ground Attack role.  The Fw190F series was designed specifically to fill this role, with increased frontal armor, and added hard points.  It was designed to replace the venerable Stuka.

If you have two minutes sir, read this...http://members.aol.com/kaczmarek190/kabus.html  about the Fw190F8 pilots of JG11, and the futile and desperate times they endured in the last weeks of the war.  I highly recommend the read.

I saw that one in person at the Udvar-Hazy Center  :P
They've got a Do-335, Ar-234, and the fuselage of an He-219 sitting near-around it.
