Embarassing moments
« on: June 12, 2008, 12:32:25 AM »
I had to wonder  about this since we all have those moments where we just want to wish it never happened and/or never gotten into that situation. I have couple off hand that I can think of.

This was while back ago. I was having really bad day and saw this lone Spit something or another little bit higher. I had the bright idea of trying to climb up to him and then turn fighting. He didn't fly that great but I did completely stupid move, and he was able to get on my six and shot me down - the guy was a Zippie lol

I was flying to a Vbase with about 5 other guys. No clue why I did this but I was flying about 15K above the base staying out of what I hoped would be fighter view. We got the VHs down and took me little while to get down but I did. I did good drop and such, but then I realized I accidently grapped vehicle supplies as well. They were maaaaaaaaad at me

Another time was when I was defending base from the bish horde buffs coming in. I had the speed but my choice of angle wasn't too good and it was HO but from underneath. I was starting to pull and shooting then.BOOM! one of his eggs got me in mid air

It was during the slow hours of the night so I was out harassing bishop at one of their smaller bases. We had CV near by, or so I thought. I had couple of kills but didn't have enough fuel to make it back. I spotted burning CV so decided, okay, gonna go land there. As I was approaching it, the puff ack was going at it so I kept looking around and trying to see if maybe there was baddie diving on me. I didn't see anything so I figured okay, maybe its just one of our guys messing with me. I was slowing down, then I saw bishop upping on the CV! I knew I just made big boo boo and then.....BOOM! .....manned gun got me.

Earlier tonight had a few kills over a bish v-base and figured I didn't have enough gas to go home so i'd land at a friendly V-base,
soon as I got close they took the base and some number guy pops out in a jeep shooting at me - boom dead.

About a week ago i was loop fighting a P-38, he eventually goes level to get away.  I think "oh, he went level time to put flaps up and chase".  Only to quickly remember i was looking up and forgot i was still in the loop.  Too bad a Ki can't pull up in 10ft.  Was really quite sad since we had been looping for 5 minutes and i almost had him :(.

Well my greatest moment of embarrassment was when i upped a 262 (which i rarely do) flew around awhile and never saw crap. So i was over a knit base totally bored and said to myself I'll go kill the radar then rtb. I dive in on the radar at which point a huge mission ups, I start to bank to vulch them and get pinged by ack. it startled the hec out of me and I augured it in, right in front of probably 30 knits. I got a ton of <S>'s on 200 though. So all was not a lose, I made 30+ knits laugh there butts off.

Everytime I miss a perfectly set-up snapshot or the target flies thru taters...

The next tater fired just as the tail went past the gunsight.

Nice screen shots, m00t  :aok    the tater passes between engine and fuselage, he was lucky there.

But as crockett  is saying, didn't you ram him after that?, as, I'm quite sure, you were expecting him to be pulverized before you cross his path  :D

The screenshot makes it look like that.. I'm doing about 130 and ruddering downwards, and the A20 about 200 when the shot goes off.  He does get to only 23 yards away at the snapshot, but tbh the really hard part isn't getting that close, it's landing the shot.  Just a fraction of a second of hesitation, or if the trim is just a bit off, or if you move the nose just a few degrees off, the shot doesn't connect and you die for it.  In that shot the bullet goes by maybe 5-10inches from the nose.
Thanks, though :)

This one time in band camp.............. :rofl If i posted all my moments poor HT would have to get another server to host them. :lol

Still the classic one is closing in on a bomber that has no clue i'm coming. I scream in on his 6 at who knows how fast (500 i think it was) start to giggle as i pass 800 yards thinking i'll fire 1 short burst at 400 he'll go boom and i'll be a hero. At almost the same time as i hit 400 i start having a sneezing attack and run right into him without fireing a shot. :O I die and he flies home. :cry

Embarrassing moments? Happen all the time. Every time I start to think "Man, I'm good!" I end up ramming a buff, augering my 262 right next to a goon, not seeing that the enemy I was chasing reversed, or getting shot down by a 110 or Stuka rear gunner  :o

After an CPID change, I had earned enough perkies to take up an AR234.

I thought for SURE I had UN-checked the formation box, and was on the runway, throttles down.

After taking care of some afk stuff I was back, throttle up and preparing to RATO...RATO on, flaps starting to come up and I keep stalling out.  The land in front of me keeps rising and I am not climbing worth a jack.

Within 30 seconds after RATO is over I stall out into the ground and crashes...the next AR234 tries to rise, but does the same--and same for the third.

Over 160 perkies gone in less than 60 seconds...much to the laughs and howls of those around me.   :o    :o    :o

Live and learn.

Everytime I up has the potential to be embarrassing. Last night, in my C205, I dove on a Spit and got so much E that I crashed into the ground nose first..... :o  After that I just logged... :lol
