Realistic Field Modifications you'd like to see
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:04:19 AM »
Would like to take have a pair of MG 151/20 in the nose of a 109 instead of 13mm in a 109G-14 and no Hub Cannon

or secondly a Mk103 Hub Mounted instead of MK108 - perked Take out the 13mm and add more ammo for Mk103
I would say 225 rounds of MK103 ammo with no 13MM for cowling, just a single 30mm - would definally be fun!

No idea why they didn't try the twin Mg 151/20 mount

Uhhhh....

Because they don't fit.

Same for the Mk103. It's considerably larger than the Mk108. As-is the MG151/20 gun protrudes between the pilot's feet into the cockpit (that's what the bump is between the rudder pedals).

Not realistic, sorry.

So you've been flying 109s for two weeks and you already want to change them? How about flying just one version of the 109 for six months and get back to us then on what you might consider to be realistic?

+1

Would be neat to see an internal, wing mounted 151 or FF option ala Galland's Franz mod.

Gondola firepower without the drag.

Not MG151, only MG/FF. Not nearly as effective as 1x 20mm MG151/20 in the nose, but hey I wouldn't argue for that plus the nose gun (yeah, yeah, I know, rare, 1 plane only, not standard, etc, etc)

What I really want is the twin MG151/20 pod under each wing for the 190A-5 and A-8. Relatively rare, but I'd love to see it on the JG11 A-5 skin (which historically flew with it!). Weight/drag penalties would balance out the increased firepower, but still it would be damn cool for bomber hunting!!!

Schrage <sp> muzik in the 110 so I could strafe toolsheds while inverted.
Rockets for the Hurri (although I think we need a different model to sport that wing- hint)
Rockets for 262s
More LW gun packages in general
Tiny Tims for the blue plane dorks
Rockets for the Russian fighters
Stupidbakers with rocket racks
Rockets for everything that fired a rocket in wartime
etc etc
mook

No barbettes & gunner equipment on the 410 (we know it's coming!), 8x20mm too..
Paddle blade prop for the 47s that don't have it yet..
Only 20mm's on the A5 (I think..)
Optional GM1 on the 152
Tracers: choice of color/placement in the belts..
12x303 on the Hurricane II.
Some sorta trailer for the 251, carrying more supplies.
(Perked) realistic amount of cargo for the C47 (~20 troops IIRC)...

10 troops is a gameplay decision, not a historical limit. Hitech said something like "We can make it carry 20 troops, but we'll also up the capture requirement to be the same" and I think also something similar "We can enable formations on c47s, but will also up the requirement for capture to 30" -- it's a gameplay function designed around the mechanics of field capture in the game as it stands, not a historical basis.

Since when did paratroopers go in and capture airfields? When did they walk into a map room and suddenly all the stuff around it belongs to allies? It's not meant to be compared to real troops in WW2.

More than 10 troops as a perk loadout.. I think stuffing in as many troopers as possible would have been a pretty easy field mod :P
