F4U-4
« on: June 14, 2008, 04:13:02 AM »
I wish they would un-perk  the F4U-4...
And for what reason is it Perked in the first place, in many areas the P-51 out performs it accept in acceleration. There very close in stats in my opinion. :salute

F4U-4 is probably the best prop fighter in game, it deserves its perk cost imo.

It outperforms the P-51 in every aspect.

Even I, the worstest pilot in the game*, think the F4U-4 should be perked, just because it's so dam fun to fly!

*I'm sure there are a few exceptions.  I can fly half-decently, I just can't do much whilst flying (e.g. shoot people down).

Are you kidding me?!?!? F4U-4 is the 2nd fastest prop plane next to the Tempest. It out turns the Tempest, P-51, Lgay 7, and a whole lot of other planes that you probably cant fly. I've taken F4U-4s against an average spixteen pilot and introduced him to the ground more than enough only to be called out with "squeak squeak, you cant kill my spit 16 in your F4U, you haxx!!"

Trust me, IMO, the F4U is the BEST prop plane in the game.

F4U4 and Temp are very close in speed. The F4U4 has faster acceleration, and is faster than the Tempest at approx. 21,000 feet on Military power. On WEP, the F4U4 is Faster than the Tempest at 10,000 feet, and 20,000 feet. The F4U4 can also hold E well and hold good in a dive, making it superior than the Tempest at pretty much every aspect.

What in the world are you guys talking about.....have any of you checked the performance charts. From 5k up to 17k the mustang is faster from 17k to 20k there equal and from 20k up the mustang has a higher top speed. The F4U4 has a slight edge in climb rate at some altitudes, and as for as turn rate the F4U-4 is a little better but its still not a turner, and it does hold its energy  better and that's just because of its weight. I checked all the charts and thats why I asked the question..... Why is this plane perked and I fly both of them alot and I love the F4U-4 but I haven't seen anything that makes it the super plane that you guys seem to think it is. And if the performance charts are wrong then they need to be upgraded. But as I said I fly it alot and really in some cases I reather fly the mustang. And for the record its mot equal to the Mustand then the tempest

Cajunn,

You obviously haven't learned to use flaps effectively yet.  The F4U-4 will easily out turn the P-51D and has higher acceleration as well.  It rolls much better and is significantly tougher.  The F4U-4 is also carrier capable. The P-51 is slightly faster at some altitudes and has longer fuel endurance.

The F4U-4's top speed is ~445mph and the P-51D's is ~435mph, fyi.

Trust me, if they ever unperk the -4 the only Hogs you'll ever see in LW are -4s and Charlies. The whines to restore the Perk will be at a level that the "Perk the ElGhey/Spixteen" threads only reach in their wildest wet-dreams.

The F4U-4 isn't perked for any one stat, like the F4U-1C which is perked because of the cannon and memories of constant HOing. The F4U-4 is perked because all its stats TOGETHER make it the best air-to-air fighter in the plane set. The P-51 is MARGINALLY faster in an altitude band between 3000-12,000ft and has far greater range, but in every other aspect: acceleration, rate of climb, ammunition load, rate of roll, durability, turning performance, diving ability and energy retention the F4U-4 is superior.

And it's blue.  :P

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

F4U-4 top speed is 445 with wep all 5 min of it, you take away the WEP and top speed is under 430 around 425 while the P-51 without wep will do 435 add WEP and it makes 440 ,Check the charts before you reply. And sir I do use flaps and the mustang can deploy flaps at over 400 MPH while the F4U-4 has to be 250 MPH or under. And if you bring the fight down to where MA fights or, you will see that at them altitudes the Mustang will out perform the F4U-4 in many areas. But now that I said that I do like the F4U-4 alot and its only around 20 perks so I will still fly it .

And i agree and that is the kind of answer I was looking for, "WHY" was it perked because by the chart's there wasn't alot of difference.

Thank you!

not in game. at 18,000 ft up your lucky to reach 420mph on WEP in the P51D. Not sure about the f4uf, but i know that for a fact in the P51

cajunn just how long have you been playing this game?

Over a year why?

Because I'm asking about A plane that I just resently started flying and all the chart figures that I looked at didn't add up to why it was perked.
