Prolly not the same player but I did notice a certain long time player get good ack gun kills .......on a CONSISTANT basis.  2,500 ft and higher kills on fast moving fighters.  Ones intuition becomes somewhat alarmed.

Being a good shot in a 37mm is no easy task. I practiced for a year before I developed my method posted here and on netaces. Even still, if I stop practicing I get rusty pretty fast. I would even say, as I am a good shot in a fighter as well, that 37mm aiming is even harder than with fighter guns because the rounds travel slower and the lead is less intuitive. If someone is producing great shots with a 37mm (Ostwind or Field Gun) you can be pretty certain they aren't cheating they just pracice alot and likely read my aiming guide...

Keep in mind that icon distances are measured in yards and altitudes in feet. If you fly over a manned ack at 4,500' agl thats only a 1.5k shot on his end.

I appreciate skill in the game but can you go that consistantly in a 20mm mannable ack?  Can you hit a con swooping lazy "S" into a field with all the other ack firing?  Not being able to distinguish your tracer from the auto ack tracer?

Your not the guy I was refering to by the way.  What sort of system do u use.  Do u use tracer to aim with or do you use the site?....just wondering.  I find high bomers easier to hit if I aim by walking the tracer on.
I know you were not referring to me. To answer your question yes. I have a high end computer that I can tell the difference between my tracer & auto acks. When the round is fired it is about the diameter of the end of a pencil by the time it gets to my target it is about the size of a pin head. I have a dell XPS700 with a Intel core2 Duo processor E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB) w/dual core & 2MB cache. 4GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 667MHz. Dual 256MG NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS Serial ATA 2RAID 0With dual 320GB Hard drives with a 30" inch flat screen. So what does that all mean I have no idea? I told Dell to pack a XPS700 with every thing they had. I don't use the sight at all I walk the tracers in on high targets & shoot at all other planes were I think they are going to go.

I find it odd how someone can fire thru the corner of a hanger, but cant take return fire....... experienced that little joy today.
I was on that base today in a manned ack when said party told me he could see the corner of your tank but knew you could not see him. I was about to pop you with manned ack when said party asked me not too so he could get the kill on you after you had popped him several times. Just one of those things I would say.

Favorite shot ever was in K4 about 4 months ago. I was at 17K above a 14K cloud deck. Astronaut spixteen dives in on me, I dodge and prep for a split-S to follow him in, more hoping to make him brake hard and snap wings off more then anything. He starts to go level to climb then sees me about D400 behind him so he split-S'es to the cloud deck, I roll over again and line up a shot at about D600 and take it inverted and in a shallow dive. Fire 1 tater for the hell of it, by that time he's at D800 and gaining ground on me, theres no way it's going to hit. He passes through the cloud layer before the round does, a second later when I dive through the layer, he's spiraling to the ground missing a wingtip (just one, not both). I wasn't filming, and I honestly didn't see the ping, but I'm pretty sure it nailed him <G>.

I've pulled a few shots like that. I used to be able to hit from 800 out which was handy for runners who get into that '800 yards he can't hit me from here so I'll stop evading and try to extend'. When you've got tracers off it's actually pretty funny.

I seem to pull some very lucky shots in the 190A8. Completely blind shots... G'd out and below the cowl shots. I know what I'm shooting at and I entirely intend to hit the target but they're the sort of shot that you only snap off a quick burst because you know it's an outside chance. I've pulled up to set up a reverse only to see the enemy con falling to the ground sans the majority of their airframe plenty of times.

I can't do this in the the 109... only the A8  :lol

Exactly. Just because you can't see him it doesn't mean he can't see you...

(Image removed from quote.)

I saw him too.  When I fired at his corner, it either hit the hanger or went long, but his shots appeared to go right thru.  I know it is not cheating, but just had a cheap feel to it.

Don't forget, what may seem impossible from your POV can be a completely legit shot from the other persons...  this is a game and there are ways to game the game in certain situations without cheating.

For example, in a man field ack i have occasionally used the F5 view zoomed out to see where my rounds are landing to hit GV's who otherwise i couldnt see behind hills etc.  From his point of view, i am hitting impossible shots even when he is out of view from the base.  I figure HT left the F5 view on field guns for a similar reason that they did buffs.

The greater than 100% percentage in field gun is probably due to hitting a town with cruiser guns.

Ahh.  I had not thought about the cruiser guns.  I suppose that could explain it.
I am still really wondering about that shot though without any tracer stream to announce it.  A one shot kill from that range seems pretty far fetched to me.  I am running  a pretty serious system and should have seen the stream given that I was searching the skies pretty hard just then.  Anything is possible though, it just struck me as being odd.

I too have a high end system & I have been taken out by manned ack at low altitudes & was watching the gun the entire time & never did see the tracer.

I've hit with a mk103 at d800 a few times so I wouldn't be surprised if the shot you thought was impossible really wasn't

Yeah, I have done it one time and one time only.  Put a red guy at D200 in front of me and will use all my ammo only to see him fly away.  Put Stang in a friendly plane at D800 ++, fire one tater, back to tower for me  :furious :furious :furious
