When most see the p47 they think, that thing is way to big and heavy to turn.  Dont be fooled, the flaps come out at a very highspeed and greatly decrease the turning radius. Keep it fast and use those flaps, the enemy planes wont be able to get their flaps out and you can outurn them.  It holds E well, so i like rolling scissors while I'm flying it.

Just a question: can you take advantage of the P-47's momentum by doing Hi/low Yo-yos or is this a bad idea?

The P47D11 turns insanely well, especially with the 6x .50 cal option.

Well that depends.  For dogfighting i take the d11, for jabo i take the d40.  I dont fly the N much but IIRC it has better roll rate and a bit more power.  The N and D40 can hold tons of ord; therefore, they are great for attack runs.

Yes.  High yo-yo's are a great maneuver to hold energy, and the 47 has a lot of momentum. Diving can get the 47 very fast, very quickly and the controls don't compress like many other planes.

The problem with the N is that down low it seems to be the most gimped 5 ENY fighter in the late war arenas.  Unless you're going to land when WEP runs out in five minutes, its better to take the D11 or D40 and get quadruple the perks per kill, or fly a 5 ENY plane other than the P47.  I'm not really sure what role the D25 has, I never flew it except in the rare cases where eny was more than 20 but less than 22 and I wanted go in heavy.

I know that JensK always flew the D25.  Better in the turns.  But unfortunately, Jens is taking some time off.  Another good Jug pilot I've come across lately is LYNX in the N model.  Look him up and ask for a few pointers.  Good luck.  The Jug is a beast to master.

I flew nothing but the N for year or so, as I used that 5 minutes of insane speed like a crutch---flying mostly D25 now, getting more kills --slower ride forces one to fight more, also climbs LOTS better than N--as does D40. Damn hard to see out of D11

ok well im fine with decreased manuevarability in later p-47s because i normally fly low manuevarability planes such as doras.  also soda's evaluations say the n model is the best.  i think that narrows it down to the d-40 and the n

I, personally, would keep the P-47 as high as possible. It's a BEAST at high altitudes.

N is D40 engine with extra 1500 pounds weight---climbs 3/4 as well, though dives LOTS better--it only shines with that 5 min of wep--when you overheat or run out, it's like D40 with 2 500 pound bombs under wings (still my fav :aok)---dont waste wep on climbout

Jug's a fun plane to fly, don't get it slow down low. Try to keep it fast in fights, as it drops flaps at fast speeds, faster than almost all planes except the F4U and P51  (and P40?). Personally I like taking the D25 into Fightertown, much fun. I can't stand the D11, only if I know I won't be getting any guys on my six will I ever take it up :P . I don't fly the N much, only a couple times when I needed the speed. The D40 is my bombing platform, with it's dive flaps (that don't do much at all) I use when I know a CV is soft. Get 15K, get barely infront of the CV and dive straight down. Hardest for the 5" to hit you .
