I want to see :
Tracers have different colours for VVS planes. 20MM have different tracer than MG for all planes. 20MM have the huge smoke paths they did IRL instead of the puny MG smoke trails we have now.
A "puff" effect for MG hits instead of the big yellow flashes. The puff would be a smaller line shaped spark with a bigger puff around it. Anyone who has shot a rifle at a solid object knows what it looks like.
Bigger badder flames, smoke trails from flaming planes.
Pilot kills moving the player into chase mode, giving the kill message and letting the plane drop uncontrolled. Planes should only go boom if the fuel goes.
Explosions blowing off ALL removable parts in flames and letting the fueselage go down in a flaming lawn dart with the pilot in chase mode watching his fate.
Oil strikes smear oil over the windshield making it occluded until the plane goes over 300 mph IAS, then make it slowly clear from the bottom up.
The addition of Z buffer to the 3d engine. I want to use those 3d glasses darn it!
Decals added. Even if they are short term ones for crissakes. If a MG stitches my wing or tail we could have bullet hole decals to show it. Cannons could punch holes by turning part of the model transparent.
The ability to run into Chutes. And see blood and guts streaming onto the canopy. Or just see a big red poof splat drip effect if we shoot one. I mean c,mon.. would be a blast to see chutes disintegrate under a few 20mm rounds.
Damage skins for when the cockpit gets hit. Nothing too fancy, just some generic glass cracks and broken dials to let us know we just avoided death by a whisper.
Of all these, the one I would like to see most is the dead man ghost chase effect. This would reduce some confusion when you go ping ping boom! You could see your plane blew up or just that you died. Plus you could slide the chase camera and see the bastard that did it for your next life...
