Text filters and touchy mods
« on: June 26, 2008, 02:47:32 AM »
Alright, here is one that REALLY ticked me off. I was in the middle of a fight, I didn't have my mic plugged in at the time, so I had to type. So, I open the text buffer, and on room, type "Ive got an F4U right in front of me". Instant mute!!! If you're going to call a plane an F4U, don't mute people for typing it! On a similar topic, I got a waring for telling someone "If listening to me on 200 pisses you off so much, just squelch me", whereas there are almost no visible results for someone who fills the text buffer with the word "noodle" over and over again. Mods a bit biased? Yeah, I'm whining. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Here's the key to the whole thing.

We're in charge of what we type.  There are no accidents on 200.  Keep your cool, be responsible for your text.  The fact that HTC has to use Mods, is really a sad commentary on the fact that some folks can't police themselves.

Rather than a moderator being biased, has it occurred to you that there may not have been one on at that time?  Also, there is an auto mute feature that will mute you if you type something it deems "profanity".  It is known that it mistakes sentences with "f4u" in them for profanity, just another heads up.

The "Pissed off" comment was a moderator. I got a "Serenity, try to calm down" or (something to that effect) box pop up, which isn't an auto feature. The F4U thing was a filter though, which I think should be fixed.

You mistyped F4U as FU.  F4U shows up in the buffer all the time.

The only time I've been muted is when I first came to the MA and called myself a "retard" for augering.

Ive been muted twice in the past couple weeks - first two times since I joined the game.

New mods are a bit uppity, methinks.

No no no, the key to whole thing is reading the post and responding to it instead of just typing something  :rofl
