you'd never guess i've been reading Robert Shaw would you
like Bruv touched on the cooperation between the pair determines the tactics - Fighting Wing (almost follow-the-leader) is easiest for novices and pairs who haven't winged before, Double Attack requires more cooperation and communication and Loose Deuce requires even more cooperation. I see this when eg. Bat and Redtop wing - theres almost no radio comms, they just know exactly what each other is doing and what their next move will be. I guess the difference between Double Attack and Loose Deuce is the degree of "sixth sense" between the wingmen which comes with practice.
btw Bruv, your guys use wing tactics very effectively, as I've found to my cost many times <S>
Bat and I fly alot alike. He is better than I with out a doubt. But , I understand almost 100 percent of the time what he is trying to do. And , vise versa for him as he understands my flying as well. It took a bt of time to come to the place where when we fly together and wing up that we don't need alot of comms between us. even after a lay off where I don't fly very much at all he and I can fall into the same routine pretty easily.
I will say tho , that similar flying styles will help speed up the process to becomeing effective wingman. Where as a BnZ type flyer winging with a tnB'er makes for a good tandum , much comms and work need to take place to be effective. Just my opinion anyway.
Bat and I understand ropes , loose duece and generally knowing where one another is at most all the time. We are usually right there for the one another when things get tight.
He is pretty much the only guy I wing with that I never worry where he is at.
