You're right. Just kinda angry about what I saw. Another thing about them not getting a trial is the fact that they arent even American Citizens for the most part. So wouldn't it make it to where they could or could not have a trial?

We don't have to, but we're the United States of America, we're supposed to be a beacon of justice and liberty in a world of oppression and injustice.
Throwing these guys in jail indefinitely is just stooping to their level. (or, below their level, considering what democracy in Iraq has done).
Or, we could throw away what our founding fathers did and become another tyrannical government.

I totally agree with you except for the "torturing" part. Waterboarding isn't torture, that's something that they did (and I think still do) to Specail forces, and I think they used to do it to Pilots too. Wierd thing is, this whole editorial is about how bad and awful America is because of this but if an American is caught by the extremists, they behead him on television only after trying to make him shame his own country. I understand that 3 were "tortured" and IIRC, they ran that on the New York Times for 61 straight days but nothing about when an American got taken by the extremists and killed.

He is calling America incompitent, greedy and uncaring because 3 terrorists got tortured. I'd understand critisizing the soldiers, but not America. And (just curious) when did that happen anyways?

I never said that. In fact, I think the whole 'protest festivities' thing is pretty stupid. But I don't see anything 'un-American' in it.

Err... Sorry for my post, I had been awake for about 25 hours and I didn't read my post before I posted it. (seemed to make sense to me when it was written then.I'm sure you've been there before...  )

Look, I'm just trying to make the point out on how wrong this editor is. This guy is an idiot. I'm proud of my country and the men and women who fought for it and fight for it today. I dont think July 4th should be a quiet day because of GWB. What did he do wrong? He didn't get our economy the way it is, he didn't make gas the way it is. And the war in Iraq (belive it or not) has been a success so far. The people in Iraq are starting to get things going for themselves (buying stuff from us.). You wont hear or see that on NBC or CNN. IIRC the New York Times ran a story for something like 61 days as headline news calling our soldiers evil people because of this...
