Best case.. he would be an even weaker klinton.. finger in the air all the time and selling out everyone who voted for him in order to get all the goodies he promised..   all talk and double talk for 4 or eight years with very little real change.. this seems likely since he is more of a rock star than anything with an already proven record of doubletalk and folding under any criticism.. he wants the adoration.. he can't do without it.. he will say anything and often.. say different things to different groups.. he does have a way of not really committing to anything.. like old bill.. "depends on what the meaning of "is" is" kind of deal.

Worst case.. we get carter or LBJ...  economy tanks.. lala land socialism programs rammed through or just signed after a socialist congress writes up every silly giveaway and guilt trip bill that their fevered little brains can come up with.   This seems unlikely because he does not seem to be made of the same hard stuff of a carter or an LBJ.. for all their appearance of being soft.. the had a mean, vindictive and hard core to them.   osama is not made of this stuff.

or.. something in between.. he will talk and talk and talk like klinton and sign stuff that put in front of him if the polls say it is a win.   maybe a few that are on the edge to pay off some of the commies who got him in but..  like klinton.. he won't be able to take the slightest bit of criticism.. he will feel obligated to respond.... in great teleprompter speeches that reveal nothing and say nothing.

like.. I support the individual right to keep and bear arms so long as the government has all the control over any and all restrictions..

Poll driven Presidency with a focus on 8 years. High taxation of the "rich" (translation: All families making >$85K per year). No solution to our energy problem except dumb stuff like Carter wearing a sweater (yeah, that would have saved us). Tons of PC feelgood legislation that does nothing.

The disaster would be Obama nominating 2-4 SC judges that will vote their liberal opinions rather then the Constitution.

Lie back and enjoy it. Bush's rudderless ship for the last 6 years pretty much guarantees an Obama victory.

The Bush court did save one of our most important freedoms, the second, from him signing in more and more bans.

I haven't studied the matter anywhere near enough to make an informed opinion on the whole of his platform... But one thing is for sure, his canning NASA for more social programs is a hint of either stupidity or corruption.  To bleed a 1% budget program working at 90%+ efficiency to feed a 5% 40%-efficient program... Intolerable.

I think you'll get all three Obama's as described in the 1st post, depending on which way the polls are going. I speak as someone who's lived through Blair. Shame we dont have the same limit on executive power over here as you do there. 12 years of Thatcher now 12 years of Blair and we're still pretty much in the same crapper as we were then albeit with different bogey men.

I try not to get too involved in these conversations - its not really my election (although as a US resident and tax payer, it does impact me greatly).

It does amaze me though that from a nation of 300million+ people, the best candidates they could come up with are Obama and McCain. I'm actually more disappointed with McCain - Obama is a kind of Democratic wet dream and its no real surprise he got the nod even though there's very little of any substance to him.

McCain, on the other hand is just utterly uninspiring. I'm sure he's a straight up guy, but I don't know if he's 'leader of the free world' material. Plus he's too old.

I do think that he will play the race card every chance he gets tho.. Hope that white guilt will excuse his incompetence and lack of any real substance.
