MT I think the point the author of that artical was trying to make is that within the black community there is a MAJOR lack of personal accountability and that the black commuinity needs to sddress that lack of personal accountability if they are ever going to get past the "racism" and dependance on the government that affects the black community.
Now I've never considered myself a racists person. I have now and have had in the past plenty of close personal friends of different color, religion, ethnicity, whatever. BUT at the same time I also live in area that is mostly government subsidized HUD homes and apartments and for the MOST part the people that live in those homes and apartments are black. They receive wellfare and every other government benifit they can get their hands on and yet I see them everyday standing on the corner doing nothing. Yet when you drive through those housing projects I can look at $2000-3000 rims on brand new cars and SUV's that I could afford on my best day and I make over $65000 a year working 40 hours a week at my job. How does that happen?
I was behind a young black woman last night at 7-11 checking out. She had 2 kids with her. When she went to pay for her items she used her food stamps, walked out the door and climbed in to a brand new 2008 Jaguar and drove off. What the hell is that all about? I'm still making payments on the USED 2001 Dodge Ram pickup I drive and I HAD to buy a used truck because I couldn't afford a new one. Then again I also pay full rent on my apartment, I don't get wellfare, or food stamps, or any other government benifit other than my military retirement. Woo Hooo a whole wopping $1700 a month for 20 years of service and during HALF of that time I made less than the National poverty level and even then I didn't receive government benifits.
So when I SEE stuff like this every day, and EVERY time I see it, it's someone within the black community scamming the government for every penny they can get and then blow it all on "bling" and then they complain because the government isn't doing enough for them, well yeah it pisses me off, and I guess it pissed off the author of that artical as well, and rightly so.
You should be pissed off when you see that stuff too. If your not then your doing nothing more than enabling that behavior and promoting it. Do you NOT see a problem with that? It has developed into a problem within the black community. Sure there are plenty of whites, mexicans, and people of other race living on the government dole but how often do you see them riding around in brand new luxury cars, wearing the latest $150 pair of sneakers, and enough gold hanging off their necks to anchor an aircraft carrier? How do they get the money to pay for all of that stuff, yet they are still living in HUD housing? You woud think if they had a job and were making that kind of money they would buy a nice home.
Personal accountability.
