why can you control the G10 in a "compressed state" with "trim input"???   It seems to me that once compressed the control surfaces no longer respond until the speed is down to acceptable norms, doesn't this apply to trim tabs also???

You can control the G10 over 400mph because the plane isnt compressed, bigjim.

It is simply that the control surfaces are stuck because the pilot cant move them with the airflow that exists over them.(sorta why the fist P38s werent able to roll at high speeds until boosted ailerons were fitted)

A compression happens when the plane reach a determinate Mach number (different in each plane),and you cant pull out of it by trimming (well you can,in all planes ,the plane answers slowly, when it uncompresses, tho, the trim up makes the nose go up and wings use to break here   )

ok thnaks Ram, but isn't the same question applied??? If the controls are too stiff to control how can the pilot apply trim??? I would think they would be stiff also???

IIRC, trims hadn't the same problem as stick stifferning, mostly brecause they had way more force over the surfaces than the stick.

Of course you can argue that some planes had no trim for some surface controls...

But then I'd argue that Fw190 seems to have had automatic trim (read it somewhere,is that true? )

ayep. Twas a dweeb mobile.

And you try turning a yoke in a power dive on a plane with a 52ft span, no wonder it rolled poorly   no leverage.

The Fw-190's had automatic trim, automatic prop pitch, and automatic fuel mixture.  They were controlled by a primitive computer.  This made the Fw-190 a joy to fly compared to the Me-109's.

Rendar the trim was not automatic.  Pitch trim was operated by the pilot via an electric actuator which changed the horizontal stabilizer incidence.  There was no trim mechanism for roll or yaw, just metal tabs that could be adjusted on the ground.

Heheh no arguement from me I was just wondering why the G10 was modeled this way and you guys have given me the answer.  It is easier to ask then to "whine" about
