As horrible of a plot as it was, and with some REALLY lame dialogue, I still love Top Gun. I would definately pay to see a sequel!

The plot I read is Maverick is a instructor at Top Gun, and has to deal with a student like he was, but this time it is a woman.

I have a feeling of another love story.

In other words... a plot that has been done, over.... and over, annnnd over.  aka nothing new from Hollywood.

Is there ever?!? Like anyone would go see it for the plot anyway. We'll go the same reason we went the first time: The WICKED action scenes!!!

In the early 1990's this script was tossed out binned at the time from what I remember because no one wanted to see another movie like that made. I had a bit part in a movie that Jessica Lang won her Oscar for and the movie was partially filmed in Selma, AL and the surrounding area in 1990 while I was in junior college at Marion Military Institute. Anyway the people that were going to do the casting for Top Gun 2 at that time were also the ones that did the casting for Blue Sky and I was contacted about having another bit part as an aviator/background guy in that one as well. Way back then I was a member of the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) since I had a small speaking part in that movie. The pay was pretty good for two weeks of working teaching people how to march and then getting asked to step in and take part in the movie itself.

We all remember what 'Pearl Harbor' did to the original 'Tora, Tora, Tora'.

Now imagine them doing a remake of 'Pearl Harbor' without a plot involving anything historical and having Ben Affleck with a troubled love interest.

Behold! Top Gun 2! :rofl

What they gonna use in the film instead of the Tomcats... F-18's?   :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Would be like doing another Star Wars, but giving the jedis toothpicks instead of lightsabres.
With the overuse of CGI today, I'd bet they are flying the JSF.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Maybe they'll use F-14s as MIGs this time!  "This, gentlemen, is the preferred weapon of your enemy, the MIG41."
