And here is a link with a some info and more picutres of "Big bellybutton Bird II": http://www.bentwings.com/vf/bigassbird/bigassbird.htm

A little more info...This plane was assigned to the defence of Bastogne, during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. The 406FG, in which the aircraft was a part of, also helped support Gen. Patton's U.S. Third Army's advance to relieve the battered 101st Airborne Division who heroicly defended Bastogne. Here is a painting of Thunderbolt's of the 406th flying over Gen. Patton advancing army.

You mean like this??  :D

I did it for the D-25, as the original aircraft didn't have a tail fillet according my records...

If you want it for the D-40, let me know and I'll add the tail fillet in.

Drop me an email at jherne at wi dot rr dot com and I'll email you file.

I've also done a D-25 for Balls Out...

I'm making some tweeks (these are my first two skins...) and will be submitting them soon.

The words on Big bellybutton Bird should go OVER the OD, not have the OD conform to the words.

Can you support the fact that the original was over the OD and not around it, as you claim?

The present-day aircraft is incorrectly painted, including the tail strip colors.

But don't take my word for it, I only ran an air museum for 10 years.

This is why I don't post anything, instead of casual comment, the only thing you point out is what's wrong.

The original Big bellybutton Bird wasn't a D-30, nor was it a D-25. It was most likely a D-27, D-28 variant. The tail fillet was a field-applied modification, but the aircraft did not have the tail fillet at the time of the sole Fw-190 kill. It did receive the fillet later on, so you can technically use this skin on either bubble-top D model.

I have some photos of the original aircraft (the 1944-45 version, not the airshow version) that will post up later on.
