How many of you have Real Muscle cars?
 1955-1975 cars only!

This is my 1969 Buick GS400 Stage1 Convertible.
Got this car for $600.00 back in 1989, I'm the 2nd owner. I drag raced the car for years, ran 13.62@102mph in the 1/4 mile. Then I found out how many where made and stopped racing it.

1969 Buick GS 400 convertibles: 1,776 made, and out of 1,776, only 212 had the Stage 1 motor.

Husband gave me a 71 pontiac firebird when we were first married. He had 72 mustang mach1. I wrecked one and drove the other one into the ground.  Then he had some blue pontiac called a sunbird. 70 - 74... somewhere around those years.

He's thinking of getting back into working on cars again... and not letting me drive them this go-around.

Why is it only 1955 - 1975?  If you can't include modern you shouldn't include prior '60 or after '74.  The '87 Buick GNX's were monster muscle cars in any era.

If you would have changed this to 'had', you would have had some more interesting responses, I'm sure-I 'had' a 1969 4-bbl 390 4-speed Mach 1 Mustang. But, the key word there is 'had'.

If I could extend it to now, I'd say my '07 R/T Charger-but the year limitation gets' me. (I'd also list my old '91 Formula 350 Firebird in the 'had' column.)

Hey, Stage1, it would be a good idea to go and blot out that front License plate number out of the photo-You stated it was a valuable car, and a potential car thief with some PC talent could use the plate to find out where you live, and try to boost your car.

 :aok

Now your talkin!  I had a GN (no GNX).  Many "muscle cars" found out that there is a replacement for displacement.  It's called boost.  GNs are bad enough but a GNX will flat embarrass you.

After '72 imo. '73 is when the smog crap and reduced compression made it's appearance.

Look at muscle from 82 forward. Ford kicked off the HP comeback with the 82 Mustang GT. Everything has been getting better from there.

The '73 - '74 Pontiac SD 455's were the last of the classic Muscle Cars IMHO.

84 Buick TType Regal. Right now. I also drive a 69 Camaro 350/255 4 speed  (raced in G/S) that belongs to a friend who also has a 69 Camaro 427/425 automatic (raced in AA/SA). I'm working on picking up a 69 Chevelle SS to be raced with a 427/425 in A/S or A/SA.

I wanted to see how many of you had real Muscle cars(i.e. the big money cars, 426 Hemi's, 427's, 454's, 400's, 455's Olds, Buick's and Pontiac's, 428 and 429's and 390, 401 AMC's and small blocks too, so on)
Many muscle cars where made from 1955-1975, Chrysler started it with the 300's Hemi's in 1955, and it ended with BOP's(Buick,Olds, and Pontiac) in 1975.

Side note the first real "muscle cars" where built in the 1930's, DUESENBERG had 270hp in 1930 with the inline supercharged 8(it would do 102mph in 2nd gear!!), and that was when V8 Fords, and Chevy's only had a max hp of 60.

If you want to talk about New muscle cars, thats fine.
If it can't get there on it's own, leave it at home!!
