Australia Population: 20,434,176 (July 2007 est.)

Texas Population, 2006 estimate  23,507,783

USA Population, 2006 estimate 299,398,484

Think before you post...

Per Capita they have a lower rate of death via guns

Aus 20,434,176 / 100 = 1 in 204,341.76

US 299,398,484 / 10,000 = 1 in 29,939.8484

I think that is what he is trying to say (I just used numbers of this post didn't check for accuracy "I know they are inaccurate")

Wow. The guns you american can have are amazing. Here in Australia you have to have a license and a reason that's NOT home defence to own a firearm. Last I checked anyways.
oh and for the record Australia had average say 100 deaths per year by guns. The U.S.A. has something like 10000 average. Interesting to note.

Thanks for chirping into our gun discussion Claw.

But I dont remember anyone talking about Australia or inviting your statistical analisys. Yaknow it seems whenever we try to have an American gun discussion here some condescending foreign bonehead breaks in with his stats.

Most of the time its a Kel-Tec .380 w/ct laser sight loaded w/Speer Gold dots in a back pocket Guru Dave holster, runs perfectly

the rest of the time, a S&W model 60 .38 cal 5-shot loaded with hydroshocks, pretty good condition

I'd be willing to trade both these plus whatever for a S&W 340PD...

But I dont remember anyone talking about Australia or inviting your statistical analisys. Yaknow it seems whenever we try to have an American gun discussion here some condescending foreign bonehead breaks in with his stats.

I'm sure this one's gonna get merged into General Gun Discussion soon, so I guess it's post now or never time...To tell you the truth, Rich, The subject of European, Australian, and other foreign gun laws' have come up in seperate threads' on this BBS, started by people from those places, and initially being discussed by people from those aformentioned places, when the U.S. members' of this board descended on them with statistics and rhetoric about the failure of gun control outside the U.S. In a way, I partly believe this has alienated a portion of the community to the point that yes, they will jump in and take a swing at American gun ownership whenever it's brought up on the forum here.

That said, hope there's not another flame war that hijacks' this thread any worse than it already is...

I dont care Frodo. We were having a general gun discussion among Yanks and nobody has the right to downtalk us when the subject matter isnt crime, or stats, or whatever. Its at a point where Im about to avoid these entirely because, in my eyes, theres always some European or Asian or whatever, barging in with negative comments about America and our culture.

You would never see me doing the same if the shoe was on the other foot. And I dont doubt that some Yanks do also show disrespect in a tit for tat. Make no mistake, Im proud to be a hunter, gun owner, target shooter, and an American!

I dont need anyone to tell me about crime in America cause Ive had knee high boots wadeing in it for 25 years. I sure as hell dont need an Australian to do so.

If we can go back to talking guns then fine. If this turns into another INTL "we better then you" thread then Im gone.

We are different here in that we believe the rights of the law abiding shouldnt be infringed due to the actions of criminals. And we must have done something right in this country, "ya think"?

 My ammo eaters are
2 HK MP5s 9mm  1 M2 carbine 30 cal.  1 Thompson 45acp ( yes i have the proper Federal Stamps)

Home defence Benelli M4 and M1. Also have a Springfield M1A all done up ( when you really have to reach out there  :D

IPSC- Started its life as a Les Baer, now its fully customized by Evolution Gun Works ( they build guns for Doug Koenig the former IPSC champ) only the frame is Les Baer now. Chambered in 45acp

IDPA- Sig all the way  :aok   228 and 229

Hunting- Misc Sako rifles in 4 different calibers from 308 to 338win mag. 1 Lazzeroni chambered in 7.62 Warbird ( think of it as a 308 doing over 4000fps) All have Swarovski scopes.

Hunting Shot guns- The Mossberg 500 that my dad got me ( honestly my favorite of them all, thing is a friggin Timex-- takes a licking and keeps on ticking) I swear that $250.00 Shot gun will be used by my son, his son, his son ETC.  Beretta O/U  for Sporting Clays    Parker SxS (Inherited)

German drilling chambered in 16ga on top and 9.73R on the bottom. Liberated by my uncle in Germany during WWII, farmer tried to shoot him with it ( unfortunatly he forgot it was unloaded, happy ending though, im sure the farmer lived to a ripe old age)

Oh yea  1 Browning Safe, built into my office wall  :D

Did i mention that i work Part time in a Gun store / indoor range, mainly to support my habit  LOL

You appear to have taken my comment in the worse possible sense and not how it was intended at all. I believe in my post in this thread (which i believe I'm free to do irrespective of the country I live in) I admired the collections you american firearms owners are allowed to have. I'm still amazed at some of the examples and arsenal's pictured and talked about in this thread. The reason I mentioned gun control here at all is because I'd never be able to own half of the weapons in this thread. The statistics I mentioned were to the best of my recollection and possibly not entirely accurate. But don't make the mistake of assuming that I was trying to downtalk or make negative comments about america or their firearms policies. If you think that an Australian who is interested in a thread on firearms collections is the USA isn't allowed to post a small mostly neutral comment then I feel that you have something against australians or me in particular.

talon.. you are welcome to post in any gun thread I make but...  don't try to pretend now that your mostly negative hollier than thou post was "neutral".   It was nothing of the sort.

I think that your post... like most negative your-0-peean (anyone not American) posts are the result of extreme jealousy and the urge to force socialism on Americans.

I am sorry if you take the mostly neutral post above in any negative way.
