Funny.  The other night my squaddie asked how you change views to get better vis on the ground.  We were on an attack mission.  I said, without thinking, I think it's Alt F1, Alt F2, Alt F3, etc.  The next thing I know he's nowhere in sight.   :rofl

:rofl :rofl :rofl You harsh bummer!  :rofl :rofl :rofl

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

nope thats been around a lot longer than AH.

In the context of AH the term 'two weeks' IMO had developed a unique and very relaxed defintion of 14 days in english...
But no, you are right - I suddenly come to think of a sequence of status meetings with some expensive consultants at work :)

nope, "pwned" is common typo of "owned" and that's how it started.

ack-ack

Noy going to start a fight of any sort, just saying what i have learned, and here is the quote i use it from: "Starcraft first made use of the word "pwned", which is popular with Internet users. It came about when a map designer misspelled the word. Then the game was published with the error. When a player had been beaten, the message "______ has been pwned" appeared. This was corrected using patches but remained in the vocabulary of '1337' or 'leet' speakers."  - imbd.com starcraft trivia.  Since i wish not to start anything i am leaving it there :salute

You can leave it there if you want but the origin of 'pwned' is a result of a simple typo and there is no fact supporting it was a result of a map maker's mistake.  There are just as many anecdotes that mention 'pwned' in games before Starcraft (Doom 2, Quake, Quake II).  It's like, 'Teh', which is the commonly used tool speak bastardization of 'The'.  Another simple typo that has grown into its own word, no different than 'pwned'.

I think you got one there.  First instance on this board is Jan 2003 in a parody by Shane.

"Tool shedders" springs to mind, I never saw that before AH.

Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams.

Well... I dunno is "troops" counts, but it was certainly a departure from "drunks" in AW.
