Switched to CNN Headline News, Nancy Grace talking about another cute baby missing somehere, on the "murder for entertainment hour".

...Googling online, its the only way you can get real "news" anymore.

How these people decide what's relevant is beyond me. The major networks have become nothing but a gossip pit spouting on and on about irrelevancies.

As to the current conflict at hand:this may not end well. (understatement)
With the current unstable footing of the geopolitical world landscape it might not take much for something like this to balloon into a major regional war.

How many major world players have to be involved in open warfare before it's officially declared as WW3 in progress?

Toward the end of 2008/start of 2009 I think the conflagration between US+Israel vs Iran will begin.
God help us all when that starts.

Sorry for the rambling.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those on both sides of this current conflict.

Hopefully cool heads will prevail.

I would guess that our CV groups' in the Med are flying their sorties' armed right now, as well. And, maybe headed in the direction of the Black Sea.

There is no way a population of 70,000 can set up their own country. 
They clearly want to align with North Osetia, thus becoming part of Russian Federation.

Some interesting notes... if this conflict is about territory, then it's Georgian Territory. Not Russian.

If it's about the pipeline into southern europe, it's about Energy and regional influence... While Russia may be annoyed there's an American Ally in their backyard; it's also true that the Georgians are less than charmed by the possible formation of a new Russian state less than 50 miles from their capital. They most definitely do not want YOU in their backyard, comrade.

We put up with Russian backed Cuba.. you salamanders can live with American Backed Georgia... with ALL it's territory intact.

Russia is not at all charmed by the NATO plan for Georgia's future membership... well; tuff chit, commie. That pipeline is a key element in a FREE Europe's energy plan... and I'm reasonably sure they ain't charmed by the concept of a Red Tide coming up in their crappers either.

That's exactly what was being reported initially, 2 different things. (I posted links to that on the first page of this thread.) There is also information out there saying Russia might have instigated things and has wanted to for some time. /shrug
