controlling more than one CV - how?
« on: August 11, 2008, 03:14:29 PM »
From time to time I'll bring up the CV list and some guy will own 3 or 4 CVs.  When I try, it tells me I can only own 1 at a time.  How are these guys taking command of 3 or 4 CV groups at the same time?  It's not a rank issue - my rank is high enough I can usually take away the CVs from these folks, but I still can't hold command of more than one at a time.  Not that I want to, I'm just curious how they are pulling it off seeing as it apparently isn't designed to let them do it.

Are they exploiting a bug?

When CVs are without any previous commander, I can take command of any number of CV's

When the CV's are already under command, I find myself restricted about the number of CV's I can control due to my rank.

So basically, if some guy is controlling three CVs, and I outrank him, I could take command of group 1, give up command, take command of group 2, give up command, take command of group 3, give up command, and then assuming he's not taken any of them back, go back and re-take command of all three, and hold them all?  I'll have to give it a try.

It's really frustrating when some bozo with a high enough rank takes control of all the CVs and has them doing retarded things, and nobody's around who can take them away.  I'd be perfectly fine with a strict one CV per player limitation, regardless of rank.

If you do not only outrank him, but are the highest ranking player of your country at that time, you can even wrestle the control of 2 CVs at a time from him.

Happens more often in EW and MW. I can remember some time ago being called to EW, because some high ranked dolt switched sides to control all of the countries TG'S, so that his friends could easily bomb them. We did a short "control battle", for neither of us was able to control all CV'S at once ...

As long as no one is in command of the cv you can just highlight it and set its waypoints.  You don't need to click the "Take Command" button first!

I hate the idiots who have to write something with the waypoint lines.  I always take control of those.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

IMO- Command should be restricted to 1 battle group with one commander once you take command thats the group you control no others I also feel the person in command is relegated to sitting on the ship and controlling it not be able to fly off the cv and leave the ship to its fate. They can control a gun while on the ship but they should be grounded while under command.

I agree with the idea that taking exclusive control of a cv group should entail the commander actually being present so that they can control it intelligently.

I know one doesn't need to take command of a CV group in order to direct it.  I task CV groups around all the time.  This is about when someone feels the need to take command, and not just of one group, but of several groups at once.

Btw, this is one case where rank does mean something.  It's nice to be able to take command of a CV group when some idiot keeps sending it off to Timbuktu when it's needed in a particular place, or get it out of the firing arc of a shore battery when some retard keeps turning it back in.

I only wish there were a way to "lock"  the flight deck temporarily to keep people from taking off or launching LVTs.  There's nothing more frustrating than being in the 8" guns reducing a town to rubble without the enemy noticing, and having some dweeb show up and launch a plane, and suddenly 5 enemies show up and pound your cv and save the base.  I'd love to be able to lock down the CV and only allow takeoffs when we're ready to launch troops and actually take the town in a lightning raid.  I guess it would be hard to come up with a good way of doing this that couldn't be exploited by shade accounts to interfere with enemy CV attacks.  Would be nice though.
