The reason I love Cryptozoology so much is the same reason I love baiting Liberals so much as well. The mere inference that a Scientist or a Liberal DOES NOT KNOW EVERYTHING is enough to drive them into a foaming at the mouth rage. Christians are a small step below Scientists and Liberals. Very small step.
Anyway, it was only recently that a Cryptid, the Giant Squid, was proven to exist. For the longest time, the myths of giant squids were dismissed. That was until crypto's discovered a new species of baby squid. And then a very large squid was caught on camera. It was only after that was a body accidentally caught.
You're wrong in thinking you know everything, like you've clearly stated above. You're also wrong in thinking that all animals are automatons that just go through life to eat, sleep and have sexy. Research has been done to show that a few animals actually have cognitive thought.
On top of all this, we are still discovering new things about the creatures we thought we understood. Take the Brazilian rain forests. It was only just discovered recently that a tribe of indians existed that we never even knew was there.
With all of this, I believe the chance for bigfoot, and other cryptids, existing goes up. However, you will never get a Scientist or Liberal to admit they are wrong. You could slap them with a dead bigfoot's hairy palm across the face, and some would still not admit it.
You don't appear to actually have any real understanding of science. You state this like it is a case where crypto "nutjobs", flying in the face of a scientific establishment, went and proved the existence of the giant squid to the embarrassment of scientists. I don't know where you get your information, but the story of the giant squid elegantly demonstrates scientific success.
Fishermen report sightings. Pieces of animal occasionally wash up on shore or get dragged up by fishermen. Scientists - yes scientists, not wackos - examine the pieces and listen to the stories and form a hypothesis about what the animal may be, and what genus it may fit into. Using sound scientific principles and studying all there was to know about this mysterious genus, a Japanese
scientist (from the National
Science Museum) predicted where he might be able to film living specimens (based on studying what was known about them to date) and his science must've have been pretty sound because he was successful at capturing them on film. As we gather more information, our scientific understanding of this animal is enhanced.
How does this relate to this bigfoot story except to illustrate that science works and cryptozoology as practiced by these guys is a wacko pseudoscience?
And how does this illustrate how science thinks it "knows everything" but was wrong?
Scientists would love to examine any and all real evidence of a bigfoot. To date there is exactly zero actual evidence to study (well, there's been plenty to study but it all has turned out to be bogus). Not saying science knows everything, just stating that as a fact. Evidence will lead to scientific study and an understanding of whatever it is. Lack of evidence leads to scientists saying "There's simply no evidence to support a belief in bigfoot."
