And why am I not surprised to find personal insults from a guy who knows the context behind that quote, and still tries to misconstrue it.

I'd have PMed you this but I know you have a habit of sharing private messages with others. Thought I'd save you the trouble.

If you received such a fummy PM from someone, wouldn't you want to share it with some friends to brighten their day?  I should be applauded for uplifting the spirits of my companions instead of being villified  :lol

Quote
P.S. The "private fight" argument goes out the window when your "private fight" is a large group vs a large group. When you've got 30 GVs on the ground in one area it's no longer private and it's no longer a fight. It's a battle. Where you hold it really doesn't change that.

You're wrong.  If a 10 players in a squadron meet up in the DA for a little 5v5 (5+5=10) inter-squadron duel, then you're saying it is okay for some twit to come along and cherry pick those that are dueling and interrupt their private fight?

It would only be a battle of those 30 players in GVs are attacking a base where others not taking part in their private tank duels, then it would be a battle for anyone to take part.  But if these guys in GVs are in their seperate corner of the DA and not bothering anyone else or interferring with anyone else that is not taking part, then it's a private fight and not a battle.  Anyone not involved that comes in and disrupts the private fight is a twit and anyone that supports griefing like this is equally a twit.

Actually the last time I was in the DA, a squad was kind enough to allow me to join them in a 5v5 type duel.

(5+5=10)
Psssst AKAK, are you sure about this one?  I recall seeing something different...It's almost like the 5s don't belong there :)

It's not a secret thing.  The vox channel is announced on all of the threads in advance... and MA announcements are made, including vox channel.  He was, indeed, just being an interrupter without provocation.

Freely admit I have no idea what krusty is on about but theres nothing new there, doesnt mean i dont like and trust him. As to the hideous crime case i ask again what motive could there have been to bomb tank klub. If it was truly a case of tachyon seeing the advert and saying 'hey, i might go and bomb them just to be an arse' then fair enough, i'm not vouching for his actions. I just have a hunch there is more to that story. [shrug]

And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

I've witnessed intentional DA griefing enough that I'm willing to take it a face value.

all well and good, as i said, just offering an opinion on something i care very little about. wishing i had a pc that could run ah  :cry

edit: you can imagine that the ammount of time i spend in the DA i would run inot some griefers also. at first i tried to reason but quickly realised thats what they wanted. So some of us old school dueling folk would just disengage each other and both chase down the griefer, back long before killshooter in the da, and kill him(i have never met a female griefer...not in aceshigh anyhow). So we killed them and they learnt to pick on someone else. Every new griefer was dispatched along similar lines and never once did our tempers flare. This thread is exactly what a griefer desires, being shot down quickly and made to feel like it was not even a challenge is not exactly what the griefer desires and so searches for emotional plunder else where.

Just for fun I went on a Tachyon hunt in the DA on Monday before I went off to the MA.  I had a good time.  I recommend it to everyone.

I am sorry but I would disagree with this...it seems he gets lost in the open air around him when he tries to fight.

Trigg your lying to yourself. I have plenty of experience with the TA's. The majority of you Don't switch and just because a couple of you have switched because out #ed once or twice in the distant past  , don't count. You and TA57 are the only two I ever seen switch and it's rare.

Zero's used to be Spacy's ride only until he found the Temp. Now that's his primary ride and he does nothing but pick ho and run with it. I go there to hunt him and all temps because of it :D

Shakey is below average but an "A" for effort...ho's everything in sight and dies often but i like him. Crazy is the same but no "A" for effort and can get pwnd by Shakey Any Day.

The Aerofighters MO is:
Drag them in and Stay Close to your base. Once you die come off the hill and gang who's left and wait for more to come back ((TO YOU)), rinse and repeat. IMO, DRdeathx organized you all to stick together and fly that way many months ago.  When you do leave your base you leave in a horde, climb high and hover over the BISH base but never Knit for some reason. Sometimes you'll even organize missions   bringing bombs and rockets for that base as well. Not what the DA is for.

On any given night you can go into the DA and you'll find at least 12 guys doing just what I described, (all hovering near their base), Most every night Rooks have a 2 to 1 advantage and even though, still will not get out of their temp's.

On top of that, The Areo's have had More Players Booted for running outside programs than any other squad I've ever seen. It's the same ole H2H crap IMO

TA57, juicy yourself and maybe one other guy are good 1 vs 1 flyers  if given the chance  but normally All TA's Are There To Gang...Same with the other large rook ganger squad, the Wobblin Gobbins. You guys never leave each others side.

The DA used to be fun as described in a previous post. You H2H DA only guys have overrun and ruined what that arena used to be like and hate seeing us MA guys come in and ruin your fun.

In the end, once the TA's are getting their ack handed to them or are out #'ed they leave, and thats an absolute fact.

I'm sorry to say that I must agree with Tool here...  Being a former member of the AeroFighters, I am quite familiar with their workings (they were originally SUPPOSED to be called Aerofighters.  UGLYDAVE actually put together the squad. UGLYDAVE appointed TA as the squad C.O. and UGLY was sort of like the "owner" so to speak seeing he did all the logistics including website, etc.  However, TA took it upon himself to call them TA's Aerofighters..  They are NOT really TA's Aerofighters and most of their members don't even know it).
Aerofighters aims to be the largest DA squad in existence.  Having played in the DA well before their existence, I find that the DA has changed significantly since their arrival.  Not knowing any better, I joined them for a time to regain my "skills" (of which aren't really that great in the first place).  Every tactic you mentioned, I can affirm that what you speak (type) is the truth..

When flying with them, I always noticed that I was mostly flying solo trying to find a fight whilst the rest were busy ganging on the one or two stragglers like angry hornets(then tachyone would should up out of nowhere and pick everyone in a Temp).  Getting one or two to come with me was impossible..  You'd always hear mentions of K/D ratio and the typical jargon that makes one think they are a great player..  Just about all of them fly Temps, Zekes, N1Ks, or Spixteens as well as every perked ride on the list..
With their arrival, as well as Tachyon's (Zerofire), they have indeed changed the nature of the DA.  I can remember just over a year ago (possibly a little more), you rarely saw a ho/pick/running in the DA and almost no taunting unless it started in the MA and moved to the DA due to a challenge..  Now, it's common place..  At this moment in time, the DA exists for the "quick kill" and landing so one can see "so and so landed 1000 kills in a Tempest" or something to that effect..

Don't get me wrong, there were some cool kats in that "squad"..  UglyJeff, CrazyHorse..  Maybe a few more..
I left the squad due to the C.O. being a lameduck on a particular "security" issue that had to do with his "friend" Zerofire (tachyon) and because their rules were extremely stringent as far as cussing and what not was concerned

One particular time was truly amusing..  There was a a particular player (can't remember who it was) that would fly with the Aerofighters from time to time..  Well, he set up a Pony mission in the MA..  Most of those guys in Aerofighters had never been in the MA..  When it came time to switch bases or countries, more than half the guys didn't know how to do it!!  LMAO
But yeah, stick a bunch of those kats(Especially Zerofire) in the MA, and it's a rude awakening..  LoL

replying to the original post in this thread...

How is this any different from flak GVs that spawn and drive under areas known for huge furballs, and interfere with glorious massive dogfights by blasting away from under some tree against people who have no desire to fight trucks with guns?

Can't have it both ways.    If the trucks can interfere with the aerial battles (to say nothing about fleet ack and other AI flak), then why is it somehow different that someone ups a plane and bombs trucks somewhere else on the map?

The game is set up to allow/encourage interaction between planes, ground vehicles, and boats.  I haven't seen anything in 12 years to indicate that there will be any gameplay modifications made to discourage this interactions.  It seems like "deal with it" is the answer, and that's what the fighter pukes have been doing for years.

What you are saying works for the MA's and I agree 100% with it in there, however if someone upped a wirbel at an arranged air to air in the DA (which is the main idea of the DA) I think they should dealt with also. That is your equivilant to what the original poster meant. I think both of these are wrong.

It is different because this was in the DA in the part of the map made for GVs.  Sounds very much to me like it was a staged engagment which is exactly what the DA is for.  The player being complained about was just out to interfere with that.
