Hello all, Some of you know these and some don't. Gonna make this short and sweet.
First off go to options then pref. , turn "Vehicle engine" sound to 0. The find the one that says "Tread" and turn it to 0. What this does is allow you to here other GVs while your engine is still running.
Example: If you are rolling towards a enemy GV you'll hear them when they get into the Range of 885.Now if you are within 1.3k of the GV and engine off and the start back up you will be able to hear them with your engine on.
What this does for me is tells me the about range. Ill post more when i have time. Anyone wants to train please pm me ill set up times with ya  :aok

All those tips are great, but it won't stop you from being killed by a 500lber :P

Ah, the old "well everyone else is doing it" saw.  Same thing as turning the detail down, right?  The guys
are right..gamey...and weak.

Agreed. Purposely finding loopholes in the game engine is akin to someone purposely searching for loopholes in the IRS tax code.

I dont really want to know any "tips".  I never did get in a windmill, get in a hill, use the chain link fence, or stick my barrel through bushes or buildings.  I did turn my graphics down like a lot of people did way back when.  It is a lot more fun doing what ever it is the hard way and not take any easy way out.  No easy button for me.

I probably wont read much more of this thread because I dont want to learn things like I just did about the sound.  I know you are trying to help but I just cant do it that way. :P

I just turn my engine on and off as I drive around and that lets me hear whats around me.  I do adjust sounds so when I use my mic I dont gets lots of background noise---as my mic transmissions arent clear usually.  Other good GVing tips if not already mentioned.

-Pork ords of the base you want to GV and the next closest airfield--this forces people like me who also like to bomb GVs to fly in from further away(ask 2BAD---Ill fly in ORD from far away just for giggles.... ).

-Choose your path of advance and make full use of land features ( Scounting the area out while porking ords is good way to accomplish this.  Arranging for aircover is also highly advised.

-Arranging for supplies to be laid in field of operations will help to keep more of your forces together, rather than those who get turreted having to die and re-spawn and begin a long drive.

-Ordnance is the most effective method to break a spawn camp, as is hanger banging.
The AArch AAngelz is its own country, we owe loyalty only unto ourselves and those we fly with at the moment.---AAolds AArch AAngelz XO.

I love to GV and do Jabo missions vs GVs, get used to it.  Being good at one helps in the other.

Ppl never stop looking for unfair advantage. Nothing new, I just wish HTC fix such exploits slightly faster.

"Engine sound" slider should affect all engine sounds, not just yours.
Moreover, HTC should allow only "submitted" sound packs just like skins, to prevent using extremely gamey sounds (like "m3 ... m3 ... m3" etc).

GVs game still very arcade yet, hope things will changes some day.

I don't need to turn any sounds down, the range channel drowns-out everything else anyway.

Nothing wrong with turning sounds down.  i have my engine and tread sounds down some so i can hear and talk
on vox.  Default was so loud that it made my vox useless. I do leave my engine up some so i now it's running and
when to shift gears up or down.

Don't make the mistake and think this makes u silent - the enemy gv's can still hear u.

Porking enemy ords always helps  (LOL  what's up AAolds -- me porking ords -- well i never -- maybe i did  heheheheh   :salute )

I personally find this no different than all the hoing, running, stay high, play it safe, and all other bs going on in planes.

Agreed, I had to do the same, both are set to 30 or so.

I did turn mine down. Didn't make a lick of difference though. I still can't hear anything other than the engine... unless I turn the engine off entirely.  That's probably how it really sounds in a real tank. :)

if you have to game it or turn sounds down, then your or them are not top GVers.

your just a fool , fooling your self n others.

?HT needs to link all simular sounds in GVs together  example.

your engine and enemy engine sound, u turn urs down, it does thiers too.
