Afghan Arena

It seems like it would be imperative to have a new Afghan terrain complete with terrorist camps and Mosques that we could bomb.  I think that Aces High should help us diffuse frustration by providing an Afghan terrain and (heaven forbid) begin working on a jet arena with F-18s and MiG29s, F-14s, etc etc.
Some B-52s would be nice as well.

WWII is great....but we need to bomb the Taliban.

No need for jets for that purpose. WW2 iron is more than sufficient. Besides, it will give you more pleasure to get down low and spread pork by products all over the land scape.

unfortunately some would consider this an "act of racism" so it would be in HTC's best interest to leave this one alone. as much as i would love to take my d30 in and spray a bunch of 50's all over those camps, it would look bad on HTC's part to sponsor this type of stuff.

Umm...how can you be racist against Afgans?  It's like saying that people who hate Americans are racists.

Strange you should suggest this, as I was working on just that when 1.08 came out and I strated flying 24:7...

I haven't even noticed if the terrain editor has been updated, but it seems necessary if the terrain will ever be universally accepted.

Anyway, the terrain details are available for download from satellite data. From there it was pretty easy to get started. I was working out how to break Afghanistan into three fairly divided areas (most of the high altitude fields are in the east) when 1.08 came out and I lost interest. I'm working on a strategy guide now, so...

From dictionary.com:

rac·ism (rszm) n.

1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.

2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

Last time I checked, Americans and Afghans weren't races.

No...that's still prejudice.  I just wanted to point out why making an Afghanistan map would/should not be considered an "act of racism".  Intentions also play a key part.  I don't think this was intended just so you could bomb Afghans.  As an AH arena, all of the sides would have fields/depots, so it would not be helpless slaughter.

I mean, we already have a Norwegian map.  Does anybody think that's an "act of racism"?

And I suppose there were helicopter games released before/at/after Desert Storm which included Iraq.  Are those games "racist acts" too?

Regions modelled usually meet 1 or 2 of these criteria:

1. There is a high probability of conflict occuring there, or conflict has occured.  A "hot spot".

2. The terrain is interesting.  Have you ever seen Siberia modelled?

Even though Afganistan meets the 2 criteria above, I personally think it doesn't have a place in AH.  TMK, WWII didn't touch it, and it was not considered relevant to the ETO, or the PTO.  And AH is a WWII Sim.

I am predjudiced against terrorists. I think they need to be taken out and run over by bemused 60 year old women with shopping carts!

Lets have a TALIBAN arena. The good guys get the nice shiney planes and the bad guys get 109's, 190's and 202's. The kicker is they get no gass or ammo.   :p

Racism would be like saying all rook smell like goats and mate with knights.  All knights look like camels and fight like they're wearing vails over their eyes.  Join the race of SUPER BISH, coming to bomb a neighborhood near you.   ;)
