Bomber Defense Scoring

Whether you know it or not, air defense of your bomber is only scored for perks.  In no way, shape or form do they count towards ranks or kills.  YES.... You will land the kills for your ego... But go under Bomber Kills and they are not there.  (Confirmed by Skuzzy)  Gunner/Observer does not count either.

But seriously...  Shouldn't it?  Part of being a good bomber pilot is being able to defend those bombers when the enemy comes around.  Being able to get past an attack and still bomb your target.

Dare I call it Common Sense.  So what is the problem HTC?

Selfish?  yeah, a little.  Most of my kills come from bomber defense.

I do understand the thinking behind it, a B17 is there to "bomb" things and should be scored as such.  But a B17 that kills 5 fighters just to get to the target sounds like a better bomber pilot then the dude in Lanc's who gets of his first salvo and then dies turning for #2.... Even though that first salvo does more damage then the B17's total drop.

What do the AH immortals think about my mortal request?

I'm hardly immortal, but it doesn't matter to me because when I fly a bomber it's the Ju 88, which usually means instant death the moment I'm discovered.  Provided I get way more points when I get an air-air kill in the Ju 88 than you do in the B-17, I'm cool with adding it to stats.

At alt the Lancaster is faster than the b17... and any good lanc stick can easily make up for the "lack of defensive arms" in the lancaster cause you have the main guns, rear, top, nose, and the belly can be gotten you usually by a combo of the tail/nose can get most of what you need to in the belly, but I'm still all for putting this in once you open the bomb bay doors for a belly turret...

Perks are not tied to scoring and ranking. You already get perks for killing fighters, it just doesn't have influence on score & rank, that's what the OP is asking for.

IMO rank should reflect using an aircraft or vehicle as it was intended to be used.

Bombers were not intended to be killers of other aircraft.  They did so only as a side effect of trying to stay alive.

You benefit from shooting down attacking aircraft by staying alive and landing your sortie, improving your damage per death ratio.  This is enough benefit for how bombers are intended to be used.

I think it should not be included.
