Stop the Ack hugging by....

*dons space-age asbestos suit and stands in front of the flamethrower*

HTC:

I propose to get rid of the ack ack in the fields and the fleets. All they do is promote ack hugging, specially now that fleets have ungodly amount of it.

In fields AAA that fires on stuff up to 200ft would be ok to kill the parachutes. That or make the AAA do such little damage (but enuf to kill parachutes) that you would have to get hit by a ton of them to scratch your paint. Realistic? No, but then again, this aint REAL.

Flame away people, I for once am SICK of seeing 20k planes DIVE to their ack when they find themselves against a 1k advantage fighter. It was done from time to time before, but now, with this new version, its become a way of life. *sigh*

If people want to defend their fields/fleets, they should get get up in m16's or PT boats.

That or rename this to ACK HUGGERS HIGH. (lol)

I have nothing against the field ack since it is limited and doesent move, but the fleet ack JESUS!! I think that since people can man so many guns on the fleet ships and stuff that why have any AI gunners on the fleet, Ive sat there and taken out 3 tbms with the a 5"gun before the fleet guns even started firing, plus it will make killing a ship somewhere below the impossible level it is at now    I dont have a problem with field ack because noone should be expected to babysit a filed..but a fleet..cmon.

1 torp kills a cv...  errm or can placed properly
In RL fleets were covered by such hellish ack, leave it alone.
Watched Hblair pick off 3 or 4 bish the other night by flying through their ack..

Remove field acks lol, never, be way too easy to sweep the map and force reset after reset.
Worried about ack? fly defensive for your team and lettem come to u.

The ack is here to stay, get used to it.  And BTW soon we'll have mannable field acks too
The ack is being toned down, although in its current incarnation it is actually harder to deack a field than with 1.04.  Perhaps its tactics just need rethought, altho in 1.04 you could just wade in, in your La5 or hog and remove the ack without a scratch.  No longer the case with 1.05

You know, I've never, EVER seen this happen?  And that's since first day of open beta?

And yet Tac has supposedly seen this a number of times?

Tac, it's not the game, it's the GAMER.

want me to film it for you? Fly some more. Better yet, fly over a fleet and you'll see how many will run to its ack. its pathetic.

Considering midway, our fleet ack seems pretty tame.

well what bugs me is the following.

I ask for bomb drift/dispersion
HT replys that since so few people fly bombers (no wonder) that we have to have super accurate bombs to make up for the fact that there is a lone bomber up there insted of 10, 20 or more.

YET
fleets have every bit the fierpower they really had but now insted of facing wings and wings of bombers and fighters, they face lone fighters and bombers or 2 or three at a time. so "for the sake of gameplay" shouldent the fleet ack be toned down to compensate for the raw numbers just the way the bombs are all "different" for the "gameplay"

im all for gameplay supporting realism and vice versa but why the double standards?

Well, it would be cool if BUFFs pilots would take off with 3 bombers.. the lead one is his plane, the other ones are AI flown (with a dumbed down otto) that follow lead plane in delta formation. If the lead plane gets shot down the pilot jumps to his second plane.

This plus bomb dispersion and removal of space-age norden bombsights  would make buff pilots not only happy ('cause they get to carry a boatload of bombs), but it would also make fighter jockeys happy (no more turbolasers AND more buffs to shoot at).

Perhaps then we would see mass formations of buffs.. if only 4 players take up.. that would be 12 buffs CARPET BOMBING an airfield =)

But back on topic, I do agree, AAA should be balanced to take into account the fact that we dont have a mass attack of planes on a field, but rarely one or 2 jabo's and 3 strato buffs hitting a field. The amount of ack, the damage of ack and the accuracy of ack now is simply ludicrous.

I have taken out six ack guns at a medium field with a Seafire....and never got hit by acks (didn't notice the flak that upped).  The field acks are now gurlie-men who obviously have a huge hangover

Just because people run to acks doesn't mean you need to take away the acks!  I've seen at least 5 cv sunk on our side, and who knows how many more have been sunk when I have not been online.  The ack defenses we have now are obviously not perfect (as they should not be).

Which is worse:  the guy who runs to ack or the guy who follows him?

The one that flies to ack of course. The guy that follows is just trying to ACM his way to a kill while the other twink relies on AI turbolaser and flak framerate-killer to save his butt and get a "manouver kill" (sigh)

Pathetic wouldnt you say?

No, fun.

I have a blast running through enemy ack, be it chasing a con, strafing it out, or kamakazi run on the enemy CV.

God forbid anyone should use strategy in this game.

Any reduction in ack translates directly to vulching of fields, ships, whatever.

And Jekyll.. it does happen alot.  Its just that you are fighting in sweeps with squadmates actually playing a little more realistically than those hovering over an enemy base looking for a victim.  It all boils down to your flying style.

The ack diving complaint by people that feel that simply because they gained an advantage on someone... they are entitled to the kill.  Most others just brake off and grab more alt.

Fleet ack is toned down already, all 20 mm Oerlikons are missing from ships which means about 100 barrels less for a fleet of CV + CC + few DD's.

Ack hugging was used in WWII because it was smart thing to do in certain circumstances ie. friendly planes can be id'd.

Actually I think the guy using the ack is pretty smart.. he takes a bad position and covers himself gaining time to possibly gain an advantage or at least a stalemate.

Tac all you really need to do since you know it's gonna happen is stay up above the ack and watch the guy.. then when he finally comes out bounce him..

wash.. rinse.. repeat..
