I am as of yet undecided.
Im not impressed with either and honesty I dont see either as being the viable alternative.
that being said.
You all better hope this changes considerably.
http://atrios.electoral-vote.com/index.htmlPersonally I think this country is made up of gullible people.
Parties and candidates play on the peoples fears.Which in turn plays upon peoples gullibility
But regardless of the arguments made here.
This election is still going to boil down to whats happening in the world in Nov.
Gas prices.
The Economy
And Iraq.
Improvements or continued improvement in these areas Bode well for McCain
Lack of improvements or maintaining where we are now pushes it into Obamas Favor.
Like it or not
Right now Obama is in the stronger position because of his "change" message
He is essentially pulling a Regan "Are you better off now then 4 years ago?" And he is doing it very well.
Now he may very well be full of crap.
But that message is striking a cord with alot of independents. Which IMO is where the votes for this election are going to hinge on.
McCain has some credibility with the independents because he doesnt always vote the party line. but even some of those votes independents find irritating.
His choice for VP may have secured and made all giddy the party base. But all he managed to do was secure a base that otherwise would have held its nose and voted for him anyway because the alternative is Obama. But the novelty of "she is like us" is going to eventually wear off. and independents arent going to like a hard line right any more then they like a hard line left. THAT is why they are independents.
McCain has GOT to play to the middle more to overcome the psychological recession and mood the country is in.
Most importantly he HAS to distance himself from Bush. He will get the vote of the right anyway. Again because the alternative is Obama.
But just as Clinton hurt Gore in 2000. Bush will hurt McCain Now.
If I were McCain I'd pretty much just tell Bush to just keep his mouth shut and concentrate on just being president for the remainder of his term and not oo anything that will give anyone a reason to print negative headlines.
You can pretty much assume Obama has the vast majority of the black vote all sewn up. Something which should not be underestimated.
They WILL come out to vote for him in record numbers.
the offset is the middle and the independents
He HAS to woo the middle. By hook or by crook.
If he doesnt. Those numbers on that page are only going to look worse in Nov
