McCain's Speech
« on: September 04, 2008, 10:08:27 PM »
'Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We're Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.'

That'll be a signature line, I'd guess.

Best speech I've ever seen him make.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

Agreed....a solid performance.   "My country saved me" and the story behind his transformation from a cocky, arrogant, self-centered fly-boy to a man who put others and his country first was a touching change from the typical hero tales we've been hearing.

As one of the preliminary speakers noted...the main difference between the candidates on the Republican ticket and those on the democratic ticket is that the Republican candidates are "real."

It will be interesting to see what kind of "bump" McCain will get from the convention and this speech.

Don't hippies realize it makes them and their cause look so much more foolish when they interrupt these kinds of things all the time?  Why they even put cameras on them is beyond me.  Show some class.  If you can't get on TV running on a sports field you sure as hell shouldn't interrupting the nomination of a presidential candidate.  There's a proper time to protest... at least McCain handled it well.

Was a good speech.
Wasnt a home run like last night. More like a streched out  triple.
But made a good case for himself nontheless.

Yet again. I'll say just as I did on the Obama speech and last nights Palin speech. "Taken at face value"

I'd like to believe he can get done what he claims he wants to. But with a Democrat controlled congress who wont be happy if they loose another election.
Im not so sure how co operative they will be no matter how left leaning a Rep pres would be.

Addressed the middle more which is something he needs to do even more of for him to have a legitimate chance.
If he does this and wins. Then he can take issues to the public and get the public behind him.
Any president who can get the public behind him will make it very difficult for anyone to go against him as it would be political suicide.
Thats something that GWB didnt quite get. (understand)
But to do that he HAS to appeal to the middle.

On a side note.
SHAME on CNN for giving so much coverage to the distractors.
They didnt do that during the Obama speech.
Death is no easy answer

Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

I think that McCain, in his own way, delivered a speech every bit as good as Governor Palin's last night.

The Republican's on this ticket sure are making lots of promises about change, lets hope they keep those promises. Especially about our schools, empower the parents with choices. Get rid of those bad teachers. (You hear that Skyrock? Best be on your best behavior if McCain wins! :D)
