looks like Ike wants a piece of Houston.  How will the city handle a Cat 3 storm?

(Image removed from quote.)

Houston will fill up with water, downtown blocked off, people stranded at Walmart
I-10 closed, 610 closed, I-45 closed, Sam Houston Toll (tool) road closed.

So we will see an evacuation of Houston then.  Are they already talking about it?

I doubt it, maybe areas closer to the bay.  Houston's problem is drainage, they can barely handle a big rainstorm, streets and parklots flood.   Galveston is gonna sux though

They said we should be making some kind of plans to get out, in case; it's likely to come to Houston.  I've seen the CPU models and 1 has it hitting just south-west of Galveston... Another hitting Corpus, and others in Beaumont and LA.

We'll see. We flew our planes out to Dallas when Rita hit. It was crazy looking at all the traffic standing still that Thursday morning. And then all the cars left on the Freeways when we flew back in Monday... Most ran outta gas just 20 mi outta Houston.

I live in B/CS and was here for Rita.  We had a lot of evacuees pass through here and it appears we will have the same again.

we used to live in Houston 72-74.   I was 13 i think, 1973?  I dont remember if it was a hurricane or tropical storm... started about 8am, rained alot, they let us out early from school at about 12 or 1 and already alot of the roads were flooded and that was on the northwest side of houston around Little York rd and 290.

I live on the NE side of Houston, we stay for cat 3 and below.  Floods around here pretty good and I live a block from lake Houston and the San Jacinto river.

I think all of Houston should go to New Orleans for the 'cane just for some balance.

They've done a huge amount of work since Allison. It doesn't flood anything like it used to.
