Was gas even used in WWII? I thought the Geneva convention ended all that?
I know Mussolini used gas in Ethiopia in the '30s, "mustard I think". But I think technically the answer is "No", that poison gas was not used in WW-ll.
Its an interesting scenario because the Germans had a large lead in poison gas development and weaponization. It was the Germans who developed nerve gas, first tabun, then sarin, and then later, the even deadlier soman. What was interesting was that the Germans overestimated the ability of the Allies to retaliate with similar weapons. Actually the Allies didn't even have weaponized nerve agents.
Had Hitler deployed them during the Normandy invasion we might be living in a far different world today.
