gas bombs
« on: September 11, 2008, 02:11:31 AM »
i think it would be a good i dear to introduce gas bombs and gas masks. i dont know what plane gas bombs would drop from but it could drop the bomb on enemy Vechles and the vechles would have about 10 sec to but on thier gas masks which if they did put them on would distrought the vision. but to use the gas bomb you would need 10 points.

Was gas even used in WWII? I thought the Geneva convention ended all that?

I know Mussolini used gas in Ethiopia in the '30s, "mustard I think". But I think technically the answer is "No", that poison gas was not used in WW-ll.

Its an interesting scenario because the Germans had a large lead in poison gas development and weaponization. It was the Germans who developed nerve gas, first tabun, then sarin, and then later, the even deadlier soman. What was interesting was that the Germans overestimated the ability of the Allies to retaliate with similar weapons. Actually the Allies didn't even have weaponized nerve agents.

Had Hitler deployed them during the Normandy invasion we might be living in a far different world today.

I changed it to months, since HTC hasn't even mentioned the development of a game similar.

If you want gas bombs, come to my house during an FSO when I'm drinking the homebrew  :aok

You'll get more gas than you will know what to do with.    :devil

There was an incedent involving what I believe was Mustard Gas during the italian campaign (going from memory I have the book at home).  The allies had mistakening loaded some aboard a U.S. supply ship that was sitting at ancor in Italy when it was damaged during a Luftwaffe air attack.  Some of the contents were released which resulted in several military and civilian deaths.  This is about the close a case of the use of chemical agents that I've come across.

I'll check the details when I get home and edit if my memory is faulty (which is more than likely the case :)).
