I was there as Knights. My take is actually very different. I saw a relatively equal number of Knights and Rooks fighting. The Knights had a lot fewer skilled/experienced players, I counted 3-5 at the high point out of 20 or so. The Rooks had 10-12 experienced players, most of whom were flying in squadron co-ordination. The Rooks had JB's, Stang, 412th and a few other highly skilled fighters. I saw the Knights actually winning at low-medium alts which caused some Rooks to keep coming back high, like 15-25k+. The Knights didn't have many high so consciously kept fighting low-medium to force the high Rooks to come down for kills, which they actually didn't do for the most part, instead they stayed high and killed buffs mostly. I saw very few Rooks landing kills and not very many of them when they did, but I saw several Knights landing kills and more of them.
The communication on Knights was fair, but it's always fair. The communication on Rooks is always excellent by comparison. I could tell before I even started killing a lot were in squad and on range bolstering each other's SA. Knights weren't terrible in the communication department especially considering the lack of experience they had. I think part of the reason you had a rough time was you and Frodo were the only two I saw consistently trying to stay high and ended up having to duck the 20k+ ponies and Tempests the Rooks kept sending over in co-ordinated packs. The fight was much better at the medium-low alts and decidedly in the Knight's favor...
