Ron Paul News
« on: September 09, 2008, 03:17:52 PM »
So I was just walking Fox News and they were talking to Ron Paul about the third Party candidate.  Supposedly Mr. Paul is going to make a big announcement tomorrow about the presidential candidates.

Fox news anchor asked if he was going to run as Third Party Candidate.  He said no he wont and that you will have to wait until tomorrow for the big announcement.

I have no idea what this could be, and the impact it could have on the race.  Anybody have and idea what this big announcement is going to be?

BTW I voted for Paul in the primaries.

I'm under the impression that Ron Paul will reveal himself as Optimus Prime and transform into a semi.

This should make paul supporters at least somewhat happy. From McCain in the WSJ:

If it is not, we will reform it or shut it down, and we will spend money only on what is truly in the interest of the American people.

Ron Paul is doing his part if he can force other politicians more towards the middle.

That's significant. Hugely significant.

I'm getting a bit worried... McCain's promises are getting a bit... extravagant. For a 'business as usual' politician.

For an Independent maverick.. he's right on the message line. As a republican; he's torpedoing his own ship.

If I was a religious man, I'd be praying for this guy.

Yeah, I have a healthy dose of skepticism. And even if he makes a 100 percent effort there is Soooo much inertia to overcome. But, given his place in life now I can give him the benefit of the doubt. As for the Republicans, the party seriously needs reform and perhaps, unlike the democrats, they realize that fact. All the democrats had to do was run a bluedog Democrat and they would probably be ahead by 20 points or more right now. A lesson they should have learned after Kerry.

And I agree with Xargos that Paul, and his far better than typical libertarian showing, has had at least some influence on the party. Palin, for all her social conservatism is apparently libertarian in action.

Too early to tell if it is just lip service, but encouraging. A clear contrast to the far left progressive message from Obama.

And if all he appeals to. Or comes across as his primary concern of supporting republicans. he will loose this election and loose it in a major way.
The republican are going to vote for him anyway as they sure as hell arent going ot vote for Obama. And will hold their noses and vote McCain just to cast a vote against Obama.
He's got the republican vote in the bag. His "ship" is damn near unsinkable.
He HAS to win the middle and moderate Democrats to offset the lage black vote thats sure to come out to have even a chance.

As of right now. MORE
Obama 281    McCain 230    Ties 27

Mccain has an outside chance of stealing NJ.
But ONLY if he doesnt come across as a typical republican.
Speaking as one who lives here and see's it every day.
In NJ Bush is McCains absolute worst enemy.
Right now alot of people really, really dont like Obama.
But they absolutely LOATH Bush. and they equate the Republican party with Bush as though they were one and the same.
For alot of them A vote for Obama is still a vote against What they perceive as being Bush republicans.
They will hold their noses and vote for Obama if McCain comes across as being a Bush supporter too much.

Alot of folks want a reason to vote against Obama. And I dont think it will take a whole lot to get them to hold their noses and vote McCain
But they will NOT tolerate another Bush like republican.

I suspect the same may be true in NY and PA as well. though I dont live theire so I dont have my finger on the same pulse.

But thats 67 electoral votes potentially up for grabs.
McCains being a Maverick and not always going with his base is his single largest asset here.
He's gotta come across as being not like Bush
Playing to his base will only hurt him

The biggest thing here that McCain has to do is pander to the middle and distance himself from anything Bush

you people need to relax, for months now the democrats have been registering all the felons, illegals, and dead people they can, and on election day they will haul them to the polls by the bus load,( except for the dead people), obama will win by a landslide.
