So logic is solely owned by college students?  You cannot be logical unless some college
professor taught it to you?

Certainly not.  What did I say that gave you reason to attribute such an outrageous belief to me?  I think anyone can engage in critical thinking, but like most other abilities, it improves with study and practice.

We never had any logical fallacies until you posted in this thread, Sandman.  I think you are the cause of all this.

It's been 10 years since I took critical thinking in college.

I've yet to meet a PhD with which I could never have an intellectual conversation with (hell, I even graded Thesis/Dissertations for my friend who taught English at U of M - Ann Arbor).   I didn't take any "class" that you have and have made a damn good life for myself.

This Country allowed "Political Correctness" to go ahead of spartan Common Sense.   The best is yet to come.   Because it will NEVER "be the way it used to be."   Sounds familiar in AH too, eh?

What's the most popular informal fallacy at the O'Club?  I can't decide.  The ones I see the most are the ad hominem and the straw-man, with plenty of red herrings thrown in for good measure.  It's been 10 years since I took critical thinking in college, but it still drives me nuts that these fallacies are used routinely here and no one seems to give a damn about it. :P

I'd say those are probably the two most common by far.  If I had to guess, I'd say ad hominem arguments are more common.

What the heck does political correctness have to do with informal fallacies?

Isn't 'Politically Correct' an example of an oxymoronic exempto ad hoc fallacy?

Is this question raised formally or informally as no true answer can be formed till this is defined, and any that are are fallacies.
