I tried the new 262 out today.

Ripped the wings off twice, which I've never done before, ever.  Maybe I'm just extra dweeby today, who knows.  The canopy framing really obscures the forward view, so I regretfully prefer the old cockpit.

Need screenshots of why you think this!

The ones on the main page didn't look too prohibitive.

I'm with Furball on this.  I've never cried about when this or that is coming out, always been appreciative of the fine product HTC gives us, but frankly I'm very dissapointed with this new update.

I second that.

As far as I'm concerned, the widescreen support is the most important element of this update.

I doubt it was straight forward to implement, but most monitors are widescreen these days and its going to be a great improvement for many of us. I don't see this as an insignificant patch.

What exactly does this mean?  "Ostwind and Wirbelwind track damage is no longer reversed."

Also, "You can now rearm your own bomber when you take drones. Note that if you still have surviving drones when you rearm, they will neither rearm nor take off again."  Will the drones count as a succesful landings or will they sit there waiting to be shot while you're away?  If they sit there will they be succesful landings once you land, even if at another airfield?

I believe they blow up once you reach a certain distance from them, still.

I for one, can't download or play until Friday or Saturday. Screenshots would be nice, all. :)

I second that, just got my 22" widescreen a month ago and have been looking forward to widescreen support.  Can't wait to try it out.

I have a hard time getting out of the IL-2 now.
It's not only sexy now, those 37mm cannons... oh my... I can't even explain the awesome.
One thing, the bombs available for the IL-2 are only 4 100kg bombs. What happened to the other 200kg worth of bombs?
Not a huge concern of mine, just curious.

Fender, do they not show up? Or are they just not viewable with the 37mms selected.

What will change with the wide screen update.  I have a wide screen so will I see an improvement?

Oh yes...

I bought a widescreen monitor as soon as I heard they'd start to support it, and spent the past month or so missing a good chunk of my view...  I was losing sight of enemies that, from experience, I knew I shouldn't be losing.  It was very frustrating.

Now that shouldn't be an issue :)

You might not notice it if you've always flown with a widescreen, but trust me, you're better off with it being supported.

Whew.  Now that we've finished with the update and subsequent CTD crushing, we're back to concentrating on Combat Tour.

All the major systems are in place (i.e. AI, promotions/demotions, character attribute point effects, scoring, medal awarding, etc) so we're now onto polishing, refining, and  debugging them.

Pyro is currently designing detailed training missions that include voice instructions, graphic pointers, cue cards for non-english speakers (but can read more easily), and HUD feedback among other effects.  You'd be surprised at how hard it is to do a proper landing.

I'm currently putting together regular-play missions.  These include graphic maps of the country and the routes to be taken, voice instructions from the Operations Officer, and in-flight directions from HQ.  Hint: better make sure you keep an eye on your fuel consumption.

Superfly is working on more varied targets than you see in the MA like sub-pens and dams.  Also, the terrain is being populated with the actual cities found on the continent.  This, in turn, allows us to design more and varied missions with interesting objectives.

As we progress all of us are having to refine code and art.  We will be running the alpha testers through the missions as we create them and using their feedback to make sure we put out only engaging, white-knuckled and fun missions.

PS  Please God, don't make me read a 'when' question.
