Here's a Palin item that has been in the news. "The "Bridge to Nowhere".
McCain called it "Pork Barrel". Palin supported it, then when elected governor she was against it. I understand John McCain getting on the soap box and calling this pork barrel, he didn't know better(maybe he did?) Sarah Palin knew this was a good project when she initially supported it, but instead of fighting for the project she took the easy road and flipped-flopped.
In the Alaska much of the available land is set aside for national forest, environmental concerns, or uninhabitable. New land for development is rare in the south east and as such land prices are astronomical. With a population of over 7,000 people Ketchikan is a small town by continental US standards. However, in Alaska, Ketchikan is a major city and tourist stop. Trying to compare this bridge to some continental US pork barrel museum or a local monument is not even in the realm of reasonable. This was a needed state development project which would have supported the local community as well as Alaska's major industry; Tourism.
