Sure, sounds like fun.

Don't forget to have the DOT officers banging on your truck in the middle of the night while you're asleep in a rest area so they can do a level 3 vehicle inspection.

I just tell em to either go ahead and call me when they're done or else come back in the morning as they're violating federal law by waking me from my sleep time to deal with them (Line 4 time) and thus working me out of hours.

A few more idea features I came up with while at work today.

        1. Total interactive cab with 360 view.(This would include a click-to-use cab enviroment).

           (A) Music radio similar to GTA. (Sorry,no rap in my game, leave that crap in the "Ghetto".
           (B) CB Radio,(similar to AHIIs in-range use only and various styles with various range).
               off/on click-to-use with multi-channels.
           (C) In-vehicle or personal cell phone.Click player name to call. If you dont purchase
a radio or cell phone, conversations would be chat-window only.

           (D) Enviroment controls; Yes,thinking seasons in the game with changes every 30 days.
If your vehicles too cold, window fogs and this adds to your "Fatigue" level. Same
if its too hot inside. Trucks and other vehicles would have a near-fully functionable
interior. Lights, dome lights, fog lights and interior-bright/dim adjustment and mirrors.

Special activities would include car and truck race tracks, and even exhibition shows.
(Possibly motorcycles). But like AHII is mainly geared for the aircraft, IUSA would be
                mostly about the trucking industry.

Putting more of a realistic feel to traveling, driver has to worry about rest, hunger,
thirst,(even thought about the "Bio" part too,) and taking care of the vehicle with
                everything from oil-changes,gas,worn brakes,cracked windshields,blown tires,etc.
Truck and civilian vehicles.  Driver has to really make the money, because you
certainly will be spending it. It would be done in a way so that maintainance
wouldnt become an annoyance. A display could be brought up sort of like 18WoS
that shows specific parts with a percentage of wear.

The "Truck-Stop"/ Here Truckers and Civilian drivers both can stop and rest, eat,
fill-up, buy parts, snacks and coffee for the road,or just socialize and show off your
Driver-Character. To prevent complications, this would be the only place your "toon"
can get out of the vehicle,(besides the races and exhibitions). There would be at least
one in every city in the game.

Nice start I thought. Still wonder what game-company would even
take a chance on this?  Besides "Hookers",if anyone would like to share
more ideas, I welcome any that are sound and reasonable.  :aok

.....oh and, speaking of the "Convoy" song, add Jerry Reeds "East Bound and Down"
and Alabamas "Roll On 18 wheeler"  :rock

Don't forget to have the DOT officers banging on your truck in the middle of the night while you're asleep in a rest area so they can do a level 3 vehicle inspection.

You also need to include portable welding trucks to be used at DOT inspections for repairs that have to be done before the trucks can be released from shut down. These rigs will have to charge a minimum of 10 times normal rates for simple repairs in order to give the DOT officials their cut under the table.
Also be sure to include the playground features at the McDonald`s for Big R drivers.  :rofl

<edit> OH..........and don`t forget beginners classes in the fine art of log book juggling. ;)<second edit>..............and scale bouncing.

There is a market for every game.

Unfortunately, truckers are on the road a lot and it would probably be hard to have an online persona that was supposed to do the same thing a real trucker does.

That being said... It might make more sense to have a Trucker Sim that would be at management level. For example, One would have a fleet of trucks, and you must maintain that fleet and get new customers and such.

Think of it like Roller Coaster Tycoon for Truckers, Truckin' Tycoon. lol.

Good idea, I'll take it one step further though!

You should start off at the management level, if you do a good job you move up to control bigger fleets and companies.  But if you do a BAD job, you get demoted to truck driver and that's how you play the road portion of the game.  Of course a lot of people will get demoted on purpose and we encourage that, that's half the fun!

Lets see, first you would have to start by working for a company. First part of career would definitely be long hauls and difficult dispatches. At this point your company pays for the truck related expenses while you TRY to save enough to buy your own truck. This phase will also familiarize you with the outrageous fuel costs, road use taxes, repair costs, preventative maintenance costs. Don't forget the 2-3 day random layovers 750+ miles from home after 2-3 weeks constant work. Then if you get home and want time off dispatch says, "What for you just had a couple days off?"

Then if you make it for 5-10 years working for other company's you can try to get a loan for your own truck. If you elect to go local for a company watch your income drop by 25-50%. I think you can see where this is going.

Others may like it, but I live it. Therefore it's not a game I would personally be interested in. However, there are probably enough professional drives playing here to give you great technical advice.

Go for it, weirder things have made millions for other people.

I hear you well, I did it for about 3 months. Though I have really liked the sounds
looks and feel of the Big-Rigs since I was a kid, there was alot about my first experience
I certainly didnt like. For starters,my trainer was an egotistical, impatient love muffin,
they had retarded runs like deliver ONE electric go-chair to some old hermit that
lives out in the backwoods with roads an 18 has no chance to turn around on,
and for my first route they wanted to assign me to,was delivering huge office
computer systems and printers in downtown KC that really required a 2-man
team to cart it across those busy and hilly streets!    Didnt take long to
                  dislike "North American Electronics".  :furious

Do you get bonus points for crushing little cars? I'd think a Prius should be worth at least 5000 perkies :aok

Yes,you do,but how many points would be dependent upon ENY.If the sides are too unbalanced, you might not even be able to get a truck that would be big enough to crush the Prius.

Here's a few thoughts: Preloaded trailers that are loaded wrong and you have to move the load to get legal. Wide and oversize loads. Innercity warehouses with docks designed 100 years ago and are nearly impossible to get backed into. (There was one in Jersey at the mouth of the Holland Tunnel where you had 90 seconds to get backed in, drop your trailer and get parked in the alley before they reopened tunnel traffic. If you didn't get it done you got a ticket for blocking the roadway.)
Roadside breakdowns and repairs. Road Service mechanics and rip-offs. Dispatchers and delivery schedules. CB Shops. Hot slutty waitresses and truckstop bars. Mountains. Low bridges. Truckwashes and chromeshops. Lumpers.

Music: Anything by Speedtrucker, Gearjammer -George Thorogood
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

One of those games that are really attractive, but would bore anyone after the first hour. Who wants to drive a truck on the I10 between El Paso and San Antonio?

Well it really depends on the individual and the mood of the day I believe,
sometimes I dont feel like shooting at targets, but would rather play something
               less intense and different goals.

Dont forget there would be a cop career, and even though you couldnt
shoot anyone, you would be able to pull over trucks and civi vehicles that
are speeding. There would be an icon that lights up on the dash or the radar
when a vehicle is in excess of say,(70) patrol car has to be within 75 feet
when activating the radar button which would make the truck pull over.

Patrol makes their money on citations and arriving on-scene for
accidents.    Think of the recepie as a dash of Warcraft with
a spoonful of GTA and 1/2 cup of 18WoS.

I understand all that, I'm not trying to badmouth your project. You asked for peoples opinions, and I gave you mine. Shooting stuff games is not all I game with, yet to me this will end up with the fun factor of watering a plant and watching it grows ... or flying FSX Los Angeles - Tokio at 40,000ft over the ocean for 10 hours. :uhoh

I'm not going to cream my pants because I'm driving 85MPH with a truckload of beers, drive 15 mph downhill on a icy road for 5 miles, or chitchat about how cool my custom paint job (idea for you) is with virtual Boba. :)

Now something like "Interstate 76" Eve Online like, would be something I might go for. Similar concept, but there's shooting.
