Wirbels are a threat to me when I make rocket attacks, but with a 500kg bomb all you need is a 500kg bomb and they are no threat.

If a wirble is paying attention, the line-up to bomb (at least from attack aircraft) should make them very easy targets.  However, carpet bombing GV's with formations of bombers is a different story.

The thing the frustrates me when I'm in a GV battle or killing GVs in my IL-2 or B-25 are those in fighter aircraft strafing tanks with MG and small cannon fire. I just don't get it. They make one or two runs that do no damage just to take the kill away from the person who put the work in.

You can do that by shooting buildings, but it's just more fun to shoot at someone.  My attack hit % is around 50% because I shoot at a lot of air targets; 50% is low compared to others!

Ah, yes that makes much more sense, I wasn't sure why you typed that twice, just figured you lost your train of thought mid post!

In terms of high alt dive bombing, it's quite difficult to accurately hit a moving wirbel from an alt out-of-range of the wirbel's/ostie's guns.  Most GV attacks from the air that I've witnessed have been very low alt.

I know this isn't much of an answer for a lot of people, but (like I said earlier) it really encourages cooperation between aircraft and GV's!  The most effective base takes (and most fun!) I've ever seen have been when both aircraft and GV's go in to take a base.  Aircraft protect the GV's, GV's can clear aircraft's 6's, aircraft can bomb/strafe GV's, GV's can shoot aircraft, aircraft can shoot aircraft, GV's can shoot GV's... etc etc...

Soxfan, I've had visual confirmed tank kills with my P47 from guns only. If you give a panzer/M4 tank a concentrated 3-4 seconds of fire in it's weak points in about 3-4 passes you will destroy a enemy Panzer/M4 tank. I will gladly record later on today for visual proof.

I've did it several times as well sir, it's not impossible and i think only the P47 is allowed to do it since it have 8 .50 cals and that's over 50% extra ammunition than a P-51 Mustang
