Various players asked me to do particular F6F skins over the years, which wouldn't have worked on the old template. So I said I'd skin them when HTC redid the Hellcat. I skinned these prior to the new version being released, as its hard to know what HTC stuff I'll be doing at any time in the future.

There are some skin viewer screenshots of these skins in this thread:
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,242137.0.html

HTC have these skins so hopefully they will be included in the next skin pack.

I've also been asked to do a VF-27 Hellcat but I'm going to wait a bit to see is Alf or Oboe want to redo their VF-27 skins first. Its not really fair for me to grab all the best schemes right off. At some point I'll probably do another FAA Hellcat, British Pacific Fleet this time.

Can't think of anybody I'd rather see do a VF-27 Hellcat, Greebo.   That was my first skin way back, and I don't have anything saved from it, so please go right ahead with it!

Thanks Oboe. According to the score page it seems Alf isn't playing AH any more, so I'll make a start on the VF-27 skin.

Nice color but unsure of year and type with that cockpit. One of the few I've seen with canopy open, close view and a pilot inside.

I think the cockpit windows above are due to a modification to carry a passenger behind the pilot.  The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Corsair had an area with a smoked plexiglass window behind the cockpit but no passengers were ever carried (insurance reasons).

Greebo, seeing as there's a new model now I thought I'd take a crack at doing a BPF Hellcat II, do you mind if I take dibs on JZ999 from 880 Sqn FAA, HMS Emperor?

No problem Jocko, I look forward to seeing your FAA Hellcat. I'm sure you'll do a great job if your Spitfire skins are anything to go by.

Anyone know if Alf is still around ?

I am praying to the AH Gods that he is, and that the F6F will get the VF-27 skin redone ... if he is not around anymore, Greebo, would you consider doing that skin ?

Looking forward to seeing the VF-27 skin !!!

Have you seen this thread Slapshot?

No I hadn't ... but I have now ... just awesome.

One question tho ... on the tri-color ... is it my sceen or the screenshot ... but isn't the underside a bit lighter towards white ?

I know this might not be a true rendition of the VF-27 scheme ... or a VERY CLEAN version of the paint schema.

That white looks a little bright to me although it may be the interior lighting. There's a few websites with USN colour swatches or FS number matches. I can't remember which one I went for offhand, but the whites were all pretty close IIRC. I have added some layers of dirt, salt and paint fade effects over the colour scheme, which alter the colour a fair bit.

Indoor photography using a flash can be misleading.  Outside pics in natural light are better but depending on the amount of sunlight and time of day colours can still look vastly different from pic to pic.  Great examples: Bare aluminum can appear to have a bluish hue at high noon on a bright clear day or a bronze hue around sunset.  Sky, the British under surface colour, can look lime green, blue-green, or yellowy green depending on the light source.

As Greebo says, dirt and weathering effects on a skin can change the hue as well.  Paint colours on a 'clean' skin will look different than on a 'dirty' skin.

Not sure if this is a tri-color F6F, but it does show the bottom white .... which is quite visible and distinct from the rest of the paint job on what appears to be a battle worn F6F.

I am not trying to "push your buttons" here Greebo ... I am very appreciative of the work that you have done on this skin.
